In this Amsterdam West Guide you can find tips for the best (foodie) addresses in Old West, the Baarsjes, Bos & Lommer and Westerpark. We think Amsterdam West is one of the most diverse neighbourhoods in town. You find almost everything there!
This multi-culti area โ with a laid back attitude โ is home to a cool mix of independent stores and many restaurants and coffee hotspots. You will find a diversity of trendy cafes, cool concept stores and vintage boutiques. Amsterdam West is also great for foodies! You find a nice eatery at almost every corner.
As mentioned above, Amsterdam West can be divided in different neighbourhoods. All with their own characteristics! It’s nice to have a bike and just cycle around to explore them all.
In Amsterdam Old West you can visit The Foodhallen, which is Amsterdam’s first indoor food market at Bellamy Square. You can go shopping at one of the trendy streets like the Jan Pieter Heijestraat which is packed with cool stores and restaurants. De Clercqstraat and Admiraal de Ruijterweg are lively streets in the up and comming Baarsjes district. If you follow the Admiraal de Ruijterweg and Jan van Galenstraat you will end up in Bos & Lommerย which is the next neighbourhood in Amsterdam West going through the proces of gentrification. This district is also referred to as ‘BOLO’. New restaurants from young and talented chefs open the doors there due to lower rents.
