Why you need to try Larry's bao buns in your life
Bao buns are the smash burgers of the Far East. But that's not doing this delicious dish justice. The steamed bun melts in your mouth; the crispy filling completes the feast.
Two years ago, friends Simon Doedens and Mathieu Schellekens decided they wanted their own business after cooking together extensively during the pandemic. Several pop-up restaurants followed, and they recently found a permanent spot on Kinkerstraat, where the Klopper en Stolk bakery used to be.
The interior of Larry's Amsterdam is reminiscent of an American diner – a bit like that of Stacks Dinner, also in Amsterdam WestThe walls have classic red and white tiles and the tiled bar invites you to linger.

Now for the menu: how many different kinds of bao buns can you think of? The team at Larry's Amsterdam really let their creativity run wild, as is clear from a first glance at their menu. The five different buns cost €8,50 each and come with a variety of fillings. The most popular (a must-try!) are those with kimchi, haloumi, and sticky tempeh. The bao buns can be made vegan upon request, but that's not standard. The owners are too fond of mayonnaise for that—and who can blame them?

Heading out of town? 🍂 These are my favorite walking and drinking spots in the Netherlands.
To be honest... I don't see myself living outside the city anytime soon, but on weekends I do enjoy getting out into nature. That's why I've created a YLBB shortlist of the most beautiful hiking areas, complete with a great spot for drinks nearby.

I used to think Halloween was stupid 🎃.
But since I became a mother, it has become one of our favorite holidays!
