Tried & tasted: these are the 6 tastiest soft-serve ice creams in Amsterdam

12 June 2024

When the temperature rises, the average Amsterdammer heads to the IJ to cool off and enjoy the better ice cream parlours our capital city offers. We know the best places for Italian gelato by now, but where can you find the tastiest and best soft-serve ice cream in Amsterdam? We tried and tasted them, and these 3 are our favourites!

these are the 3 best Soft-serves in Amsterdam to try this season

Most of Amsterdam’s excellent ice cream parlours, such as Massimo, Van Leeuwen, Van Soest, IJscuypje, Pisa, and many others, never disappoint. However, sometimes you crave something different (even if it’s to avoid the long queues). That’s why we introduce you to the best soft-serve ice cream in Amsterdam, where the lines are shorter, and the ice cream is equally fantastic.

Tea Up

The matcha and black sesame soft serve from Tea Up is very Instagram-worthy. The sweet-savoury taste is unique and adds a nice twist to the classic soft serve from your childhood.

It’s back! The Oatly Soft Serve at Stach. Last year, this vegan soft serve was also available at an Oatly pop-up on Prinsengracht, this year the famous ice cream returns to Stach. And with delicious toppings like caramel, coffee, and strawberry.

Bakkerij Hartog

You might know Bakkerij Hartog for its iconic whole wheat bread and the annual queues for its famous oliebollen. This summer, they’re adding a new classic to the lineup because Hartog now serves soft-serve ice cream! It’s classic and creamy, with toppings from their bakery.

Fort Negen

Fort Negen is a famous bakery with one brilliant invention after another. Their soft-serve ice cream is part of that, as who would have thought that serving it inside one of their bestsellers could be such a fantastic idea? The result – soft-serve ice cream served in their croissant dough puff – is so good that it deserves an award.

Wils Bakery Café

Another bakery with a great idea is Wils Bakery Café. In addition to serving amazing dishes, delicious sandwiches, and other goodies, their pastry is worth writing home about, especially their soft-serve ice cream, which never ceases to amaze. We recommend saving some space because this is an experience you don’t want to miss.
