Do you know those restaurants that instantly give you a vacation vibe? You don’t have to travel far because Amsterdam has numerous of hotspots that emulate this feeling. Let’s list our favorite beach club style restaurants for you.

Kokomo

The new summer hotspot of Amsterdam is called Kokomo and boasts one of the largest terraces in the city. A delightful expansive grass field where you can chill with a drink in hand. Hannekes Boom

Hannekes Boom has become a well-known landmark in Amsterdam. You can dock your boat there, even go for a swim, or enjoy some food and drinks on the terrace. The relaxed, laid-back atmosphere and vibrant interior make you feel momentarily transported outside the city.
Hannekes Boom, Dijksgracht 4, Amsterdam

Pllek

The NDSM-werf gained a beach spot a few years ago with the arrival of the temporary Pllek. It has become an integral part of North Amsterdam, but eventually, this establishment will have to make way for the construction of new apartments. Until then, you can experience carefree days there, sipping on a cocktail with your feet in the sand or dancing until the early hours at one of their legendary parties. Without a doubt, one of the best beach clubs in Amsterdam.
Pllek, T.T. Neveritaweg 59, Amsterdam

De Verbroederij

Near the famous Skate Café in Amsterdam-Noord, you’ll find De VerbroederIJ, a friendly gathering place where you can enjoy live music, performances, and other activities to unite the neighborhood. It leads to cozy chaos, where you’ll invariably meet new people and have a great time.

Strand Zuid

Strand Zuid was one of the first real beach clubs in Amsterdam. Although it no longer has the sandy beach it once had, you still feel like you’re in nature, as if you’re not in the heart of our capital city. The terrace is sunny, the drinks are always cold, and there’s a place to dock your boat.

Waterkant

In the heart of the city center (Marnixstraat), you’ll find a place that’s always bustling on sunny days: Waterkant. It was one of the first establishments the 3WO hospitality group put on the map for a good reason. No matter how crowded it gets, the atmosphere at Waterkant is always relaxed and enjoyable. The menu is mainly Surinamese, offering a variety of dishes from saoto soup to gado gado salad. It’s one of the finest waterfront spots in Amsterdam, right in the middle of the city center.

Hotel Buiten

At the Sloterplas, you’ll find Hotel Buiten, which lives up to its name quite literally. You can truly feel like you’re at the beach thanks to its spacious terrace that overlooks the shores of the Sloterplas. But please note: swimming there is NOT recommended.

De Japanner Strandeiland

De Japanner is based on Japanese Izakaya, authentic, small pubs where Japanese workers enjoy beer, sake, and small dishes after a long work day. With two locations (in West and De Pijp) always bustling, it was time for a third establishment, one that feels like a beach club but in Amsterdam. Situated near Skatepark IJburg, De Japanner Strandeiland is a perfect getaway for summer days. And if it gets too hot, you can take a refreshing dip in the IJ (the body of water in Amsterdam).

Kaap Amsterdam

Kaap is a genuine city beach in Amsterdam. Located on the IJdijk at Zeeburgereiland, it offers unobstructed water views and provides a safe place for swimming. Kaap Amsterdam adds the perfect vacation vibes to the experience. The atmosphere is relaxed, and the setting has a Woodstock-like feel. You’ll find unique sandwiches on the menu, ranging from a cheeseburger to a sandwich with feta and pepper spread. The wine selection is straightforward but offers everything you need for a day at the beach.
Kaap Amsterdam, IJdijk 10, Amsterdam

Beach Club Haddock Amsterdam

Haddock is near Kaap Amsterdam and just as charming as its neighbor. In addition to cozy chaos, they offer simple sandwiches with options like tuna and classic toasties. The menu also features dishes such as vitello tonnato, samosas, and burrata. It’s a place to eat, drink, and enjoy, and it’s also available for private events, as Haddock is frequently used as a wedding venue.

Vooges aan ‘t IJ

Last May, the famous Meneer Nieges was replaced by Vooges aan ‘t IJ, a place that has already captured the hearts of many Amsterdammers. Located just a stone’s throw away from Amsterdam Central Station, this brand-new establishment was once in the Utrechtsestraat. After a short hiatus (and running several restaurants in Zandvoort), the father and his sons are back for Vooges aan ‘t IJ, where you can soon enjoy their famous classics. In short, many options exist for finding a delightful beach club in Amsterdam.
