13 x That one fun outdoor patio in every Amsterdam neighbourhood

17 August 2016

the most fun terraces for this summer. can you check them all?

You can set the clock on it that when the sun shines in Amsterdam, all the terraces are full. Cause it’s not that often that the sun shines here and when it does, we want to enjoy every bit of it. When the weather’s nice I make sure to plan as much meetings outside of the office and on the terrace. My favourite drink for during the day has consistently been BOS ice rooibos. A drink I got familiar with in Soutg Africa where it’s being produced biologically and on a small scale. We like! Just the packaging of Bos makes us happy and that’s why for today here are the nicest terraces of Amsterdam. And not an neverending list, but just one great terrace in every area.

13 x fun outdoor seating in every amsterdam neighbourhood

gezelligste terrassen amsterdam 600x450 roest

The best terrace in the East of Amsterdam (city center side): Roest

A terrace on stones, big picknick tables in the sand and the wharf from where you can jump into the water. Yes, that is what has to make Roest the best terrace of the East of Amsterdam. Over here there’s always something happening and every moment of the day there’s a relaxed vibe. Our favourite combo for on the terrace? A BOS Ice rooibois apple + the flammkuchen with bacon and gruyère.

gezelligste terrassen amsterdam 600x450 ree7

The best terrace of the Jordaan / Nine Streets: Ree7

We love Ree7!  Because in here everything looks joyful: the beautiful coffee counter, the flowers, the tasty dishes, the cups of coffee. A visit to Ree7 is a treat either way. Is the sun shining? Of course you’ll have a seat on their small, but very nice terrace.

The best terrace of Westerpark: WestergasTerras

On the terrain of the Westergas you’ll find so many beautiful spot, but there can only be one winner. And the price for best terrace then has to go to the WestergasTerras! Not only does this terrace looks great – with the big parasols, trees and beanbangs – but it’s a great spot at the water. Nipping your icecold icetea you’ll forget for a minute that you’re in Amsterdam!

de gezelligste terrassen amsterdam hallen

The best terrace of the West of Amsterdam: De Hallen

It has to be admitted, even we discovered the terrace of De Hallen later on. Because well, there’s so much to do in De Hallen itself that you’re easily tempted to stay at the bar. But go quickly, off to the terrace at the side of the Bellamyplein! The stairs, the lovely fences, the lighting… It’s one of our favourite spots whenever we have to plan a meeting outside the office.

The best terrace in the New-West of Amsterdam: Lola Luid

Lola Luid is what you’d call a creative breeding ground. And we love those! In this old school building you’ll find a lunchfroom, a bicycleshop but also a pop-up mall with design, fashion and vintage stores. And the lovely terrace. Good news: at first Lola Luid was going to have to leave this building, for now they can stay. Yay!

The best terrace of the North of Amsterdam: Fashion & Tea

All the elements for a nice terrace are present at Fashion & Tea at the Van Der Pekstraat in the North of Amsterdam: design tables alternated with secondhand chairs, pillows, awnings and a nice view. And of course, apple pie! Delicious next to your ice tea is what we’re thinking ;-)

Trust us!

gezelligste terrasen Amsterdam frnzy 600x450

The best terrace in the Pijp: Frnzy

You can have a French-Vietnamese breakfast and lunch at Frnzy in the Pijp. A great lunch spot where you can find the classic croque madame, but also Vietnamese springrolls on the menu. But also waffles and acai bowls, mmm! Best of both worlds… that always makes us happy!
Check all the ins and outs on Frnzy here >>

The best terrace of the centre of Amsterdam: Quartier Putain

Another one of those enjoyable spots for people-watching in Amsterdam is at Quartier Putain located at the Wallen. While enjoying a good cup of coffee – made for you by experienced baristas – of a nice icetea you can spend hours here while watching the passersby!

gezelligste terrassen amsterdam bos 7 lobster

The best terrace of Bos and Lommer: Bos & Lobster / Samen

When we were on our quest to find the best terrace in Bos and Lommer we encountered a problem. Because over here we have two favourites instead of one and we didn’t manage to pick just one. And so Bos & Lobster and Samen are sharing the number one place. Why? Because at both places you can have a great meal and a great terrace!

And finally: it could be that when the weather’s nice you’ll want to get out of the city, enjoy a trip to the sea or something completely different. That’s why here are some of our favourite summer addresses outside of Amsterdam!

En dan tot slot: het zou zomaar kunnen dat je bij mooi weer de stad uit wilt, lekker naar zee of eens iets heel anders. Daarom ook buiten Amsterdam een aantal van onze favoriete zomerse terrassen!

The best terrace of Zandvoort: Rapa Nui

Oh my, Rapa Nui has such a lovely beach pavillion. During the summer days you’ll enjoy the sunset here, with funky music, an icetea and of course a good glass of wine!

The best terrace of Bloemendaal: Republiek

This has been a favourite in our office for years, the Republiek in Bloemendaal. The Eastern interior of this beach pavillion will set you in the holidaymood for sure!

The best terrace of Haarlem: Veerkwartier

We don’t come to Haarlem very often, but when we do… We most happily pay a visit to the Veerkwartier. A great spot situated by the water where there’s always a relaxed atmosphere!
