Noemi Amsterdam: the top-notch takeaway spot for Italian pizza, focaccia, and fresh pasta

On the corner of Van Woustraat and Hemonylaan (Amsterdam South), you can no longer ignore the delightful aroma of freshly baked pizzas and focaccia. Despite the unassuming nature of the small takeaway joint, the scent guides you directly to Noemi Amsterdam.

WHY YOU WANT TO TRY THE PIZZAS AND FOCACCIA FROM NOEMI AMSTERDAM

When you order pizza, focaccia, fresh pasta, or gnocchi from Noemi Amsterdam, it’s like momentarily transporting yourself to Southern Italy. Significantly, the pizzas seem to come straight from Naples. That suspicion is mainly accurate, as Antonio Amendola, the founder of Noemi, sources all the ingredients from his homeland. Every day, he prepares fresh dough for the pizzas and focaccias for takeaway.

Menu Noemi

The Neapolitan restaurant owner and chef hopes to expand Noemi Amsterdam into a full-fledged restaurant, but he’s taking it step by step. He’s “not in a hurry.” However, Noemi’s popularity is undeniable: this place could very well grow into a popular restaurant.

His speciality is the Turin-style pizza al padellino, baked in a small round pan. In addition to his regular menu (of which the Margherita pizza might be the best you’ve tasted in ages), Antonio prepares a different dish daily, ranging from lasagna to Italian meatballs in tomato sauce. The pasta and gnocchi are also freshly made and intended to be finished at home. However, you need to order them in advance, something the locals already know and take advantage of. If you don’t live nearby but are craving something delicious, have a big appetite, or need hangover food, Noemi is worth the detour.
