The Predetariër Amsterdam: delicious sandwiches filled with game meat

There are plenty of sandwich shops in Amsterdam, you might think. But the owners of The Predetariër Amsterdam had a different idea – and we’re very glad they did. In the heart of De Pijp, they serve sandwiches filled with wild game, making a statement against industrial farming. ‘We’re here for the nature lovers, the connoisseurs, the wilderness, and a world full of biodiversity.’

Why you want to taste a sandwich at De Predetariër

“On the hunt for biodiversity’ is the motto of The Predetariër Amsterdam. A positive approach through which the owners demonstrate that you can enjoy meat responsibly. However, that meat must be wild, preferably sourced from areas managed by trained hunters to maintain natural habitats in good condition.

The Predetariër has been around for a while; previously, they mainly supplied wild meat packages for home and catering businesses. They still do, but it was also time to introduce a larger audience to the benefits of wild meat, among other things, as a statement against industrial farming. Because it is long outdated and unnecessary. Besides, you can taste the difference with wild meat. The danger is that you won’t want anything else after a sandwich from this establishment. Fortunately, there is also a solution: their online shop offers an extensive range for home consumption.

Menu De Predetariër Amsterdam

The absolute favourite on the menu of De Predetariër Amsterdam? Without a doubt, it’s the grilled sausage sandwich, made from wild boar and deer, topped with Kesbeke pickles and honey mustard sauce. The ciabatta bread is homemade and crunchier than you can imagine. Make sure to check out our full review on Instagram.

You’re also in the right place for those who prefer not to eat meat at all. There is one vegan option—and it’s worth trying, too. Until June (and possibly longer!), you can visit this sandwich shop and deli from Wednesday to Sunday for a responsible piece of meat and perhaps the tastiest sandwich you’ve had in a long time. Enjoy!
