Bonjour Càphê Amsterdam: the best flavours of Vietnam can now be found in the Jordaan

Besides the ever popular Saint-JeanThere's another fantastic hotspot, one that we're betting won't go unnoticed on TikTok for long. Bonjour Càphê Amsterdam has been making waves since December with all the special things Vietnam has to offer: from rice wine to good coffee, banh mi, and a good number of traditional classics with a twist.

A Vietnamese hotspot in the heart of the Jordaan, we didn't have one yet! Discover the unique flavors of Bonjour Càphê Amsterdam – they'll transport you to Vietnam for a moment. Owner Kevin Le derived the name from his childhood: he always called his grandmother "My Bonjour" – so the name was easy to find. Càphê means coffee, the drink that forms the basis of this coffee shop with Vietnamese fusion dishes. The owner is a huge fan of coffee, even becoming a true connoisseur. He learned all about it in his home country, and once in Europe, he visited Scandinavia to learn about their coffee culture.

Owner Kevin wants to share his knowledge with others. It's one of the reasons he recently started organizing a different workshop every Wednesday. From Vietnamese cooking workshops to coffee ceremonies and intuitive cooking.

Menu Bonjour Càphê

Bonjour Càphê Amsterdam serves various lunch dishes, of which the contemporary bánh mì is the most popular. Instagram You can see Kevin (who's in the kitchen himself) preparing a Vietnamese baguette with miso eggplant and pickled cucumber. Trust us, it'll make you hungry. Every Sunday, Bonjour hosts its Brunch Club, with a different theme each week. Previous themes have included Saigon Street Food Fiesta and Lunar New Year Celebration. The menu remains a secret until 24 hours in advance.

Bonjour is open for dinner from Wednesday to Saturday. Join one of two shifts: the 6:00 PM shift for early risers and the 8:30 PM shift for night owls. In the evening, Kevin serves dishes with a story, like the chua—a noodle soup—from his childhood, based on his mother's recipe. His signature soup is part of a comprehensive eight-course tasting menu. The dishes are served in a "classroom" setting in the small restaurant, which seats only eight. This creates a cozy atmosphere. Not only because of the nostalgic dishes, but also because Bonjour makes it easy to connect with other guests. A unique evening out where, besides good food and pairing wines (rice wine and Czech wines), it's all about connection.

A grandma's cookbook. Three Michelin stars. And a beautiful 70s villa in a quiet neighborhood in Bangkok, where you are welcomed as if you were at the chefs' home. The Sühring brothers don't cook based on trends; they cook based on memories.
