Sunday 7: Ome Adje from Ome Ad Serveert

22 February 2015

7 questions to Ome Adje from Ome Ad Serveert

For his career he’s an economist by heart, but once back at home he’s all about food and music. With these two wonderful hobbies, he has been working on combining them to create something great. Thus, he founded Ome Ad Serveert, a creative initiative where visitors can grab a bite as well as have a great time on the dance floor. Obviously we’re talking about Ome Adje here! In Sunday 7 this creative chef tells us about what he enjoys doing in Amsterdam

Tip: Ome Adje soon has a new website on omeadserveert.nl! For now you can find him on Facebook and Twitter via @OmeAdServeert.

The perfect Sunday
“Morning sun, brunch in Amsterdam West, go for a relaxed walk instead of always rushing on the bike, go home, cook and then eat it outside or watch Studio Sport.”

Favourite neighbourhood
“The Bellamy-/Ten Kate neighbourhood (Kinkerbuurt). There are a lot of great (eating) places there and around the Kinkerstraat and Ten Katemarkt there is quite a mixed population. I like going the Cafe Thuys, Bar Brouw and of course the Ten Katemarkt there.

Op de to-do list…
“To organise a multi-disciplined, innovative creative food festival that goes on for a couple of days near the Leidseplein area. One that aside from dance (which of course would be huge on the festival), would be able to keep the ‘fun Ome-Ad atmosphere’. It would be great to be able to create a space where knowledge and experiences can be shared while keeping the mood light with a refreshing program and a great food party.”

No coffee, but tea
“I don’t drink coffee, but I like to drink my tea at Café Restaurant Edel.”

Having drinks in Amsterdam
“Cafe Thuys or Tripel with the boys from our Friday-app. We start with lager beer, speciality beer and if we’re really having fun we would usually end the night with whiskey.”

Favourite overseas restaurant
“Taberna Ideal (in Lissabon, Portugal). Fun place, wonderful kitchen and great wine.”

Bucket List
“Travel around the world the Ome Ad-way; cooking with people from all over the world and to combine that with an act, play and music.”
