At the wine shop Attenoje Amsterdam (or rather: ‘Attenoje!’, which roughly translates to ‘my heavens!’ and stems from Yiddish), you’re not just in the right place for a juicy bottle of your favourite wine but also for modern art. And that proves to be a golden combination.

Why you’ll want to visit Attenoje Amsterdam as soon as possible
That art and hospitality are a match made in heaven is evident not only at Attenoje. The walls of AO Bar at Westerpark are regularly adorned with the hues of a pop-up exhibition, and at Hoxton Hotel, significant attention is paid to local artists, too. It creates a delightful setting: a focus on good food and drink and an inspiring and artistic environment.
Attenoje is located on the lively Jan van Galenstraat in Amsterdam West, where interior shop Ted Amsterdam and restaurant Oficina are also situated. The interior of Attenoje resembles a gallery; the art and colourful wine bottles are showcased well in the bright space with stark white walls and vibrant blue accents.

Art and wine
Owners Charlotte van den Brekel and Cris Dijkman are lovers and business partners; both are trained as graphic designers and share a deep passion for natural wine. Attenoje Amsterdam is the place where all these passions converge. They had always cherished the desire to open a shop. After working for a long time as an employee, that dream became a reality late last year.
The natural wines come from various European countries and are sourced from small, independent wineries. Domaine Mosse is a well-known one from the Loire region, but lesser-known Eastern European wines are also famous at this wine shop.
Then there’s the art and design objects: another great love of the creative duo, from graphic prints for the wall to designer corkscrews that elevate any home gathering into a stylish affair. So, be warned: leaving this shop empty-handed is nearly impossible.
