10 X Stand-Up Paddleboarding in Amsterdam and Tips for Renting SUP boards

Sup Tropisch:

At Sup Tropisch, you begin your paddleboarding adventure between Zuid and de Pijp, two lively neighbourhoods in the centre of Amsterdam. This is the perfect starting point to explore the heart of Amsterdam. Our recommendations are the Sup by Night route and the Wake-up Sup. Enjoy the vibrant city of Amsterdam at night, or admire a stunning sunset over the Zuidas on these routes.

Kano & Sup Amsterdam

Kano & Sup Amsterdam is located along the Amstel River, making it incredibly versatile. For instance, you can paddleboard through the Amstel straight into the city centre, or explore Amsterdam East or South by venturing into one of the smaller waterways. Kano & Sup Amsterdam is also perfect for those who find paddleboarding a bit too thrilling, as you can also rent canoes here.

Sup Rental Amsterdam

Sup Rental Amsterdam is located on the Amstel River. Therefore, Sup Rental Amsterdam is perfect for following the Amstel and paddleboarding towards Ouderkerk aan de Amstel. Paddleboard through the polder and alongside various windmills and pumping stations. Especially on a hot day, Sup Rental Amsterdam is highly recommended to escape the heat of the city! This is my favourite location for stand-up paddleboarding in Amsterdam.

Sup NU

Sup NU is located on the eastern side of the Amsterdam city centre; we couldn’t ask for a better location. Paddleboard along Artis Zoo, through the canals towards the renowned Western Canal Belt, and enjoy the canal houses’ beautiful view. It’s perfect to rent a sup board here in Amsterdam and explore the historic city centre!

M&M Sup

M&M Sup is the very first paddleboarding school in the Netherlands. M&M Sup offers a wide range of fun and sporty lessons, such as Sup Yoga, Sup Pilates, and our personal favourite: Sup Fit, a true workout on a paddleboard. Of course, you can also simply paddle around Amsterdam at M&M. With locations at IJburgstrand and the canals in Amsterdam East, you can enjoy both a day on the lake and a day exploring the canals. In short, there’s something for everyone at M&M Sup!

Sup & Meer

Sup & Meer is located on the Nieuwe Meer, making it the perfect base for a day on the Amsterdam lakes. Rent a paddleboard and explore the Nieuwe Meer and the Amsterdamse Bos (Amsterdam Forest) in a unique way.

Sup West

The name says it all, Sup West is the perfect base to explore Amsterdam West. Located at one end of the Westelijk Marktkanaal, you can paddleboard from here through the canals and waterways of Amsterdam West. Alternatively, try something different and paddleboard with your board to the Westerpark. A recommendation from Sup West itself is to make a few stops along the way at the many cosy cafés along the canals in Amsterdam West. Paddleboarding in Amsterdam has never been this fun!

Canal Sup

Canal Sup is perfect for exploring Amsterdam West. Take your paddleboard along the various charming cafés in West and experience the atmosphere of Amsterdam uniquely. Another favourite is Canal Sup’s park route. Paddleboard to Rembrandtpark and enjoy a day on the water and the beautiful weather there.

Detour

DeTour offers a unique experience compared to the other locations on this list where you can rent a paddleboard. With DeTour, you rent a board that is delivered to your home, and then you can choose where you want to go paddleboarding. You can also opt for a ‘Sup Clinic’, where you explore the city with the instructor before it wakes up. Our recommendation? Book a ‘Vrijmibo Sup’ session with DeTour and enjoy an afternoon on the waters of Amsterdam with your colleagues. A unique way to experience stand up paddleboarding in Amsterdam.

Sup Sup Club

“Sup Sup Club is perhaps our favourite on the list. Not only does Sup Sup Club offer a wide range of possibilities, but they also organize monthly Sup Sup Cleanups. At various locations, you contribute to clean and tidy water while paddling on your sup board. It’s a great workout, a fun afternoon, and environmentally friendly at the same time! You can find Sup Sup Club at six different locations in Amsterdam: Amstel, Centrum, Sloterplas, ‘Westelijke eilanden’, and ‘Oostelijke eilanden’.
