And trust me… Amsterdam has a lot of nice terraces :-). Some bigger and sunnier than others but all perfect for a hot summer day. Yourlbb listed the best terraces in Amsterdam per neighbourhood. Because you sometimes just want to stay close to your home and the other time bike all the way to the other side of town to meet with friends!
The best terraces of Amsterdam – city centre of amsterdam
Hoftuin: A very well kept secret. Please don’t tell others ;-) You’ll probably notice this cozy Hoftuin when you pass it at night, because they have beautiful lights. For coffee with cake, lunch and drinks. So all day!
Hannekes Boom: Hannekes Boom is a classic beach style and warm weather spot. Long picknick tables, colourful parasols and good snacks. Hanneke’s Boom is a happy place!
Lion Noir: Check the beautiful inner garden of Lion Noir. It’s one of the most beautiful spots of Amsterdam, we promise!
Bar Brandstof: Known for their central location and always crowded terrace. How can it not be, the sun is always shining at Brandstof!
Waterkant: The Friday after work drinks at Waterkant is famous! Must visit this hotspots under the Q-park on the Marnixstraat.
Amsterdam Roest: For years a super cool summer hotspot. Because at Roest there’s always something going on. Kids climbing in ropes and daredevils jump of the wharf. Roest is a true chill spot :-)

Bar Loulou: For an fun afternoon in the sun on a huuuuuge terrace… bring your friends and enjoy the weekend!
Remise 47: Hotel De Hallen is located in a former tramshed. Remise 47 is open for lunch, brunch and dinner. Let’s go here to enjoy the sun!
Morgan & Mees: Not just an hotel but also a spot with a lovely terrace. This is where you want to be during the summer evenings!
Café Lennep: New cafe in Amsterdam West: Café Lennep. Nice gastrobar with terrace and tasty dishes to try soon!
Meneer Nieges: Along the water, close to the central station and with a nice and sunny terraces. Yes, this is where you want to go!
Razmataz: Another fine terrace in West. Because here at the Hugo de Grootplein life is always treating you well. And the location is very central, so going to the city for dancing is easily done!
Panache: Small, but nice. Not always sunny, but a perfect terrace spot to combine with good company and fine food.
Edel: This spot in West has a beautiful location next to the water. Some drinks, bites and let’s hope the sun will shine!

Brouwerij Troost: A super huge terrace with nice wooden tables and delicious beer. That only means one thing: Brouwerij Troost is always cosy!
Cafe Amsterdam: Cafe Amsterdam is huge. The terrace however is not! Try to find a spot at one of the long tables along the water.
Mossel & Gin: Nice terrace at Westerpark. Mossel & Gin is perfect for G&T’s! Bring your friends and enjoy so drinks.
Pacific Parc: A bit alternative, but very relaxed! Often live music that makes that beer taste even better. A must visit during the summer!
Cafe de Walvis: A classic one at the Spaarndammerstraat is Cafe de Walvis. Bites, drinks and just a fun time with friends.
Pikoteo: A fresh hangout with covered terrace. When the weather is nice, the doors of the serre will be opened. Which makes it a perfect setting. Order some Spanish delights and you’ll get the holiday feeling.
The best terraces of Amsterdam – the Pijp
The Fat Dog: Hotdogs, G&T’s and a very sunny terrace at The Fat Dog. All you need for a fun night right?
Cannibale Royale Ruysdael: Most people only know Cannibale Royale for their delicious evening menu, but did you know that their location in De Pijp has a wonderful terrace with sun all day long? Plus, here they have a lunch menu. From lunch via drinks to spare ribs, mmm!
Bar Mash: This is the perfect spot for Friday after work drinks. Make sure to order some bites here too.
Volt: One of Yourlbb’s favourites in the Pijp. Because here the dishes are delicious and the ambiance is always great. With good – affordable – meals and lots of different beers. Cheers!
Flamingo: Corner cafe at the Albert Cuypstraat. Flamingo has a small but cosy terrace!
Venster 33: Venster 33 is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner with a lot of G&T’s on the menu. Here they serve small dishes, with taste very good on the sunny terrace!
The best terraces of Amsterdam – Rivierenbuurt / Stadionbuurt
Cafe Vrijdag: This is also a great spot for afternoon drinks. Outside on the terrace with some beers.
Marathonweg: The terrace of Marathonweg is not only nice for drinks but also for dinner. Order and meal, something to drink and have a good evening!
Cafe Kiebert: A brown cafe with a modern twist! Cafe Kiebert is located across the street from Marathonweg.
Jack Dish: At first sight this looks like a small bar, but…. appearances are deceptive. Jack Dish is formed by two different buildings and has a huge terrace! An all day sunny spot with delicious food in the Stadionbuurt.
Roast Room:Two concepts – rotisserie and butcher – under one roof and a small terrace on the roof. Sounds like a win-win ;-)

Gent aan de Schinkel: A very cosy terrace in Amsterdam West is Gent aan de Schinkel. At night, the lightning is wonderful!
George WPA: George WPA is a classic in Amsterdam Old South. Haven’t been there yet? Then go, go, go! Classic dishes and white wine.. ;-0)
Vondelpark 3: Vondelpark 3 is the most beautiful terrace of the Vondelpark. Hear the birds and soak up the sun!
Ron Gastrobar: Michelin star restaurant Ron Gastrobar for a foodie night out.
Carter Bar & Kitchen: Great for drinks or just for a tasty dinner. Carter Bar & Kitchen is located on a corner in Old South.
Vida: Nice coloured Spanish tiles, Spanish newspapers on the ceiling, a terrace with happy colours and tapas on the menu. There’s no way that you’re not feeling the holiday at Vida.
THE BEST TERRACES OF AMSTERDAM – AMSTERDAM north
Cafe de Ceuvel: Don’t forget your swimwear to Cafe De Ceuvel! Because at this fine spot near the water you can swim!
Tolhuistuin/T.H.T:Tolhuistuin in Amsterdam North remains one of our favourites. A lovely view over the IJ and small dishes to share. Make sure you’ll check the agenda!
EYE:A huge terrace with a view across the IJ. A great spot to meet with friends or chill after the movie at EYE.
Stork: Industrial looks, fruits de mer plateaus and oysters, a view across the IJ… Stork cannot go wrong!
Noorderlicht: This nice spot has lovely picnic tables, next to the water and they have the best healthy dishes on the menu!
PLLEK: Bare foots in the sand, beer in one hand and just sit back and chill. Haven’t been to Pllek? Make sure you’ll go this spring!
Hangar: Hangar has it all: a fine location at the water, a beautiful interior, good ambiance and fine food. And also a terrace! On Sunday also live music, yay!

Bar Spek: Bar Spek is a super nice neighbourhood bar and restaurant. One of the finest terraces De Baarsjes!
Café Cook: Is Café Cook the best kept secret of West? Maybe it is! The sun shines all day here and they have a huge terrace. What do you think, is this the biggest terrace of West?
Floor 17: The highest rooftop of Amsterdam. Floor17 is great for drinks or an open air movie night (we love it!)
Bar Baarsch: Another fine neighbourhood bar in De Baarsjes! Bar Baarsch is perfect for drinks with friends till the early morning ;-)
Cafe Zurich: Sunny and big! Fine for drinks, lunch or having a bite at the Mercatorplein. Stylish and also a super cozy place!
The best terraces of AMSTERDAM – AMSTERDAM OOST
De Biertuin: Summer or fall, it doesn’t matter at De Biertuin! Ever since they opened, it’s a favourite spot at Oosterpark.
De Ysbreeker: A classic spot in Amsterdam East. The fine terrace of De Ysbreeker at the beautiful Amstel. Such a great view.
Girassol: Do you like some good food and the sun as well? Go to Girassol on a sunny day and enjoy both! Yumm!
Bar Restaurant 1900: A terrace in the sun with a view on the idyllic fountain. Imagine yourself here as a god in Barcelona, Rome or Paris!
PARK: Head towards the Oosterpark so you can relax at PARK, the restaurant of Hotel Arena. It’s very beautiful inside (check the interior!) but you can also perfectly sit outside. One of the prettiest terraces of Amsterdam if you’d ask me. Let’s go and enjoy an shared dining!
Canvas op de 7e: What a view! And also nice food and drinks. Canvas op de 7e at the Volkshotel is GOOD.
Bar Bukowski: Not the biggest terrace, but it sure is one of the most cosy ones. Hop by Bar Bukowski for a nice cold beer.
Walter’s Woodburry Bar: At terraces in East this one sure cannot be missed! A fine terrace at the always buzzling Javastraat!
Louie Louie: Louie Louie is East has a fine terrace. It’s a great spot for a delicious meal, good drinks and nice music as well!
