Cafe Restaurant Verlan Amsterdam: delicious food at this new hotspot on the Prinsengracht

One of the nicest restaurants I’ve eaten at lately is definitely Cafe Restaurant Verlan in Amsterdam. Do you remember the location of wine bar Envy on the Prinsengracht? A very cozy and atmospheric old warehouse, which is buzzing like never before with the opening of Verlan. Because it really is an Amsterdam pipe drawer, there are different corners, each with its own atmosphere. From eating at the bar to benches with high tables and from round tables to covered with white linen. I was there for an early lunch the other day and it was so nice with my guys on a Saturday afternoon. A table full of dishes, bottle of wine and rosy on the bike back home. Something I call a perfect Saturday! The French-oriented no-nonsense menu at Café Restaurant Verlan in Amsterdam is extensive and you actually want to taste everything. What I find very attractive is the lunch formula where you eat a delicious starter and main or main and dessert for a very friendly price, just like in France.

Every moment of the day a different vibe at café restaurant Verlan in Amsterdam

What I like (and what not every business succeeds well) is that at Verlan during the day you feel that for a restaurant where the dishes are really good, it still feels very accessible. You can therefore easily walk in while shopping in the Nine Streets, for example. We were there for an early lunch and took our son with us (who enjoyed the fries and some bar bites). Although, during our lunch at Café Restaurant Verlan in Amsterdam, I could see myself going back here for a date night just the two of us or a dinner with friends. Or to drink another glass of wine at the bar after dinner if you don’t want to go home yet. This transformation from lunch to dinner and late night is also reflected in the menu. Delicious dishes that are perfect for extensive dining. But also tasty bar bites such as blinis, oysters or just a bitterbal if you settle down at the bar for a drink.

Menu X Café Restaurant Verlan Amsterdam

Open from lunch on weekends and from 5 p.m. on weekdays. The menu changes with the seasons and the time of day. The lunch menu until 3 pm, then on to drinks and dinner. The shells in white wine with dried black pudding are a must-order. Just like the steak tartare! You will also want to try the roasted vegetables with burrata, the steak frites and the blinis with crème fraiche, egg, chives and fish roe from the lunch menu. Table full and perfect for sharing. I’ll be going back for dinner sometime soon! So keep an eye on my Instagram @yourlbb and @yourlbb.amsterdam for updates.

Reservations can be made at Cafe Restaurant Verlan, but there are always tables and bar areas for walk-ins. So do you go all-in with an extensive lunch or dinner or do you join us later in the evening for a cocktail or wine at the bar with some bites? Everything is possible!
