Cafe Restaurant Verlan Amsterdam: delicious food on the Prinsengracht

One of the nicest restaurants I've eaten at recently is definitely Cafe Restaurant Verlan in Amsterdam. Do you remember the location of wine bar Envy on the Prinsengracht? A very cozy and atmospheric old warehouse, which, with the opening of Verlan, is bustling like never before. Because it's a true Amsterdam gem, there are various nooks and crannies, each with its own unique atmosphere. From dining at the bar to banquettes with high tables, and from round tables to tables laid with white linen. I was there recently for an early lunch, and it was so lovely with my husband on a Saturday afternoon. A table full of dishes, a bottle of wine, and a rosy bike ride home. That's what I call a perfect Saturday! The French-inspired, no-nonsense menu at Cafe Restaurant Verlan in Amsterdam is extensive, and you'll want to try everything. I particularly like the lunch menu, where you can enjoy a delicious appetizer and main course, or a main course and dessert, for a very reasonable price (just like in France).

A different atmosphere every moment of the day at café restaurant Verlan in Amsterdam

What I love is that Verlan feels very welcoming during the day, but once the food is on the table, you understand that it has a completely different (more fine dining) vibe in the evening. We were there for an early lunch and brought our son (who enjoyed the fries and some bar bites with us). Although, during our lunch at Café Restaurant Verlan in Amsterdam, I could already see myself going back for a date night as a couple or a dinner with friends. Or to enjoy a glass of wine at the bar after dinner if you're not ready to go home yet. This transformation from lunch to dinner and late night is also reflected in the menu. Delicious dishes that are perfect for a leisurely meal. They also have tasty bar bites like blinis, oysters, or just a bitterbal (a Dutch croquette) if you're just settling in for a drink.

Menu X Café Restaurant Verlan Amsterdam

So, open from lunch on weekends and from 5:00 PM on weekdays. The menu changes with the seasons and the time of day. The lunch menu runs until 3:00 PM, then continues with drinks and dinner. The scallops in white wine with dried black pudding are a must-try. As is the steak tartare! Also from the lunch menu, you definitely want to try the roasted vegetables with burrata, the steak frites, and the blinis with crème fraîche, egg, chives, and fish roe. Reservations are welcome at Cafe Restaurant Verlan, but there are always tables and bar seating available for walk-ins. So, will you go all-in with a leisurely lunch or dinner, or will you join us later in the evening for a cocktail or wine at the bar with some bites? It's all possible!
