Coba Taqueria Amsterdam: for Mexican tacos and grasshoppers in North

Coba Taqueria Amsterdam only closes when everything is gone, including the locusts

Great, great news for Mexican food lovers among us! A real taqueria has opened in Noord, where you can order a variety of tacos and grasshoppers. This new Mexican spot, Coba Taqueria Amsterdam, can be found on Schaafstraat in Noord, behind the Hotel de Goudfazant and a few doors down from FC Hyena. Owner Mirthe van der Schoot is passionate about Mexican cuisine and couldn't wait to open Coba Taqueria, named after the ancient Mayan city of Cobá in Mexico.

Together with chef Joachim de Buck (no, not related ;-)), they're now preparing the most delicious tacos, and we absolutely love them. Will you go for the filled Tacos Canasta (three different tacos, in such a cute basket, how could it be otherwise), Tacos Al Pastor (tortillas filled with pork tenderloin, pineapple with an achiote marinade, and a touch of chili) or the Tostadas? Don't forget to order a fresh tropical pineapple or watermelon juice with these. Then it'll truly feel like Mexico!

Order the Mescal cocktail at Coba Taqueria Amsterdam

Want to go all out and eat like a true Mexican? Then order the Mescal, a cocktail with chili-infused watermelon, orange with worm salt, and a grasshopper. Yes, really, eating insects is perfectly normal in Mexico, and that includes Coba Taqueria.

Fun fact: this Mexican spot only closes when everything is gone, including the grasshoppers. So, don't let them get away with it and go a bit wild. By the way, the interior really reminds us of Mexico. The space is filled with flowers and plants, has yellow accents, a concrete floor, brown wooden chairs, and a long bar for drinks all evening.
