Scheepskameel Amsterdam: second restaurant of Rijsel

10 May 2016

The scheepskameel amsterdam is the new sister of the famous Rijsel

Perhaps restaurant Rijsel is the biggest success of Amsterdam East. And it definitely is one of the biggest successors of Amsterdam as a whole. Because Rijsel, Rijsel is always full and a true classic on the map of Amsterdam. That’s why we’re very happy with this news: the men behind Rijsel are going to open a second restaurant named Scheepskameel Amsterdam. Yay!

Just like their first restaurant also the Scheepskameel will open its doors in East. And also here in a building with history. Because where Rijsel is housed in an old domestic science school, the Scheepskameel will open on the old navy field, along the Oosterdok. Where there used to be a school for sea cooks. The name – Scheepskameel – refers to an invention of the past, whereby it was made possible to let boats sail through shallow water with the aid of floats. And now thus a brand new restaurant in Amsterdam!

And it’s almost time, because the Scheepskameel Amsterdam will open its doors at the end of the month. From May 24 you can go here for simple dishes, without any fuss, for an honest price. With emphasis on raw meat, raw fish and raw vegetables. And for all the wine lovers it gets even better, because much care has gone into the wine menu. The Scheepskameel will be the very first restaurant of Amsterdam with a full German wine list. And that promises a lot. We can’t wait to go there!
