Since last June, Amsterdam’s Jordaan has become one hotspot richer. Meet Café R. de Rosa Amsterdam, a (wine) bar on the corner of Boomstraat and the cosiest place in Amsterdam.

Why you want to visit Café R. de Rosa Amsterdam

The no-nonsense catering establishments in Amsterdam are scarce, but Café R. de Rosa is one of them. No oat milk cappuccino, but filter coffee on the weekend instead. This relatively new bar describes itself as a ‘small neighborhood café’, and that is precisely what it is. Don’t expect a brown café, but a place with Old Amsterdam influences, an extensive wine list, delicious snacks and small dishes, and staff that prepare everything with love. At R. de Rosa, it’s like going back in time. It’s all about good quality without a huge price tag. It is, therefore, one of the few places where you can drink natural wine for a reasonable price and order filtered coffee for only €2 per mug.

The friendly atmosphere has been carried out down to the last detail: a ceramic letterbox next to the toilet, next to a rack of postcards. If you write a card and post it at R. de Rosa, the staff will send it later that week.

Menu R. de Rosa Amsterdam

In addition to an extensive wine list, unique syrups, and homemade kombucha, R. de Rosa serves a traditional Dutch breakfast on Saturdays: a warm egg with fresh bread and brown butter, Northern cheese, unlimited chocolate sprinkles, and a glass of apple juice. The sweet tooth is well catered for during the weekend: the bar has an extensive selection of homemade cakes and cruffins, but savory pies and quiches are also in great demand. You will find even more snacks and snacks on the menu, such as cheeses from the nearby Noordermarkt, fresh bread with dips, and oeuf mayonnaise with homemade mayo. It doesn’t get more characteristic and cozy than this.
