Café Libertine Amsterdam: new location now open in De Pijp

Hospitality entrepreneur Steven Pooters is no stranger to Amsterdam. He was previously involved in Lobsterhouse and Ferilli’s Caffè Ristorante, founded several George restaurants in our capital, and has been at the helm of Libertine at Noordermarkt for years. Despite the concept having had three locations pre-pandemic and now only one, it was time to open a second establishment yet again. And that’s how Café Libertine in De Pijp came to be – in our opinion – a very welcome addition to this vibrant neighborhood in Amsterdam-Zuid.

Café Libertine Amsterdam Pijp

“Inflation makes people more critical,” Pooters told Quote about opening a second Café Libertine in Amsterdam’s De Pijp neighborhood. He is establishing his new restaurant on the premises previously occupied by Petit Caron. Before the pandemic, Pooters and renowned hospitality mogul Casper Reinders opened two other Libertine locations. However, when Reinders exited the business, those establishments closed their doors. Now, it’s time for more, and we can’t ignore Libertine in De Pijp anymore. The ever-charming Gerard Douplein will become even better with this addition.

Libertine Café des Prés

Unlike Café Libertine (located in Amsterdam’s city center), Libertine Café des Près has a menu tailored to a slightly younger audience, fitting for De Pijp, according to Pooters. From Wednesday to Sunday, you can enjoy dishes inspired by French cuisine, just as you would expect from Libertine, from lunchtime until midnight. The decor and ambiance are also similar, with small tables, French influences, and an interior in white, red, and earth tones that feel familiar. And so, with Café Libertine, Amsterdam’s De Pijp neighborhood suddenly gains a new hotspot for lunch, drinks, and dinner.
