30 x hotspots for the best breakfast in amsterdam

Chun Café

Perhaps it’s a good thing there’s always a long queue at Chun in the Nine Streets. Otherwise I would have breakfast here every day with the delicious brioche toasts! If you ask me, these are perhaps the tastiest sandwiches you can get in Amsterdam right now. So my advice is get here before 10am on weekends or go during the week (when it’s a little less busy). It is worth the wait. Favorites from the menu are the bulgogi and the shrimp toast. Take home made lemonade with it. They also have very good coffee.

Bakkerij Loof

This is the place you want to have breakfast in at in Amsterdam West. At least if you like really good bread. Bakery Loof is a nice place where you can start the day. Whether you want to have breakfast alone with a magazine or newspaper or meet up with a friend. When the weather is nice, it is also wonderful to people watch from the terrace on the always lively Bilderdijkstraat. And did I mention they open at 8am? Bakkerij Loof is located in the same corner building as Café Binnenvisser where you can join us from the beginning of the evening.

Next

Next on the NDSM wharf is the new addition to the team that is also behind PLLEK. You could see it a bit as the bigger slightly more mature, but still rebellious and uncategorizable brother. They are open seven days a week from 9.30 am, so you’ve also come to the right place for breakfast. NEXT also has a great bar for cocktails later in the day. I think this is one of the few places in Amsterdam where you want to go in the morning for breakfast and in the evening for a party!
NDSM-Kade 2, Amsterdam, North – nextndsm.nl

Le French Café

In the always lively and cozy Javastraat you can visit Le French Café all day long. A new style French bistro where the menu is full of the best from France and where you can imagine yourself in Paris in Amsterdam East. The interior is crazy cool! Another thing I really like about this new restaurant in Amsterdam is that there are several nice corners everywhere in the place. A communal table, small bistro tables where you can quietly read a newspaper, a cozy bar for endless drinks later in the day and of course a lovely terrace. For breakfast they have classic breakfast dishes on the menu, such as sweet French pastries, different eggs and sandwiches. And don’t forget to try the mini Madeleines with your coffee!

Cafe Restaurant Metro

By far one of the nicest new restaurants in Amsterdam Noord. And the good news is that they have their own bakery and are therefore open early every day. They don’t have an extensive breakfast menu, but they do have a number of very tasty sweet options to go with a coffee. Good to know: from 12:00 they do lunch for dinner, this is an address you DEFINITELY want to go to.

Bakkerij Wolf

It started as a bakery, nowadays you can also sit there to eat something. Morgan & Mees’ top baker, Paula, makes the most delicious sandwiches, pastries and croissants; to make your mouth water. The café is open from Tuesday to Sunday. Recently they also do dinner on some evenings, but keep an eye on the website for that. This spot is perfect for an early breakfast or a nice lunch in the Nine Streets.
