Sometimes, hotspots emerge that you didn’t know you needed, but after the first visit, you can’t live without them. Cocktail bar Belly of the Beast Amsterdam is one of those. Discover everything you want to know about the hottest bar in Amsterdam Centre.

Why you should try the cocktails at Belly of the Beast Amsterdam

One cocktail is not the same as the other – you have probably experienced that at a simple bar that went along with the cocktail craze years ago. You should visit a specialist if you are looking for a perfect cocktail. The recently opened Belly of the Beast is such a place, with renowned bartender Tess Posthumus at the helm. Tess has won several awards for her bartending skills, and you can taste it. She set up the business with Joeri Salet, also a well-known name in the world of gastronomy.

Interior Belly of the Beast

The interior of Belly of the Beast Amsterdam is worth mentioning because the excellent cocktails give this new Amsterdam hotspot an international allure, and the interior goes even further. Owners Tess and Joeri wanted to create something original; that’s why the entrance is inspired by a beach bar, and the rest of the place has a different vibe. That of an internationally renowned speakeasy cocktail bar with a touch of Great Gatsby, to be precise. Dark wood with dark green walls and a robust bar make you feel like you’re in another world. And that is precisely the intention because Belly of the Beast is about escapism.

Menu Belly of the Beast

Then the cocktail menu, which award-winning bartender Tess Posthumus personally put together. The cocktails are classified based on taste, from fruity to spicy and fresh. For example, the Mosasaurus is a strong guy, whereas the Siren’s Call is an accessible choice. There is also a special section for non-drinkers with special, booze-free mocktails.

For those for whom cocktails alone are not enough – we understand if you spend an evening here – there is the extensive snack menu with small dishes. The burrata is a hit, but the selection of bread, oysters, and cheese are also recommended. For bigger appetites, there’s the Beastie Boys menu, which includes Wagyu brisket, Cajun shrimp, and chicken teriyaki – all marinated in spirits.
