Anyone who has ever been to a thrift shop knows they are often filled with hidden gems. Granted, sometimes it takes a bit of searching, but the appreciation is even greater when you come home with a unique find. Whether you’re a thrift shopping rookie or simply seeking inspiration, we have good news: these are the best thrift shops in Amsterdam.

Thrift shops Amsterdam

Amsterdam is bursting with thrift shops, but which ones are worth visiting? What are the classics to keep in mind and occasionally explore? We’ll guide you with an overview of the best thrift shops in Amsterdam.

De Lokatie

De Lokatie has an extensive clothing collection and, like the highlighted RataPlan below, has three locations: two in Amsterdam-Noord and one in Amsterdam-Oost. Apart from recycling usable items, De Lokatie strongly emphasizes equal opportunities. Many of their employees face significant challenges in the job market, and De Lokatie provides them with a chance to work and thrive again.

Rataplan

RataPlan has an impressive presence with three locations in Amsterdam: one on Van Slingelandstraat, Generatorstraat, and Willem Roelofsstraat. Undoubtedly, RataPlan is the largest thrift shop in Amsterdam, offering an extensive range of furniture, clothing, and almost everything you can imagine. It’s the perfect place to lose yourself for an afternoon of exploration and treasure hunting.

Re-CirclE

Re-Circle is one of the most well-known thrift shops in Amsterdam. You’ll find an extensive range of vintage clothing, furniture, and decorative accessories. It’s hard to think of something Re-Circle doesn’t have, from unique teapots to sandals.

De Milieu brigade

The Environmental Brigade promises ‘only items in good condition.’ When you step inside, you immediately understand what they mean: it’s a thrift shop just like the ones you remember from the past but with a high-quality selection of items to enhance any home and wardrobe.
