Let's start with the question: what exactly is maritozzi? Anyone who's ever visited Rome will undoubtedly return home with a mild obsession with this sweet roll. In Italy, they eat maritozzi for breakfast; we personally prefer it with coffee to avoid an early morning sugar rush. Maritozzi is a brioche roll filled with a sweet, creamy filling that can vary in flavor. Vanilla is a classic, but these days we also see them with savory fillings (like at Metro, see below) or with pistachio, chocolate, or roses. The selection is enormous, and this classic Italian delicacy is even somewhat reminiscent of our traditional Dutch pudding roll, but made with delicious brioche. And believe us, it's much tastier than the homegrown kind.

Heading out of town? 🍂 These are my favorite walking and drinking spots in the Netherlands.
To be honest... I don't see myself living outside the city anytime soon, but on weekends I do enjoy getting out into nature. That's why I've created a YLBB shortlist of the most beautiful hiking areas, complete with a great spot for drinks nearby.

I used to think Halloween was stupid 🎃.
