This table d'hôte restaurant is one of our favorite openings
I briefly hesitated about whether we should really mention Restaurant Watergang Amsterdam. Because, well, there aren't many tables, and the food is fantastic. I can honestly say it's one of my favorite new restaurants in Amsterdam. Perfect for date night with your partner or an evening of fine dining with friends who also appreciate good food. Restaurant Watergang is an intimate restaurant that almost makes you feel like you're dining in the living room of friends who live in that beautiful, historic building. It's in an almost hidden spot in Amsterdam's city center, a spot you could easily forget.
The dream restaurant in the building that happened to cross their path
Watergang Amsterdam is the new restaurant of entrepreneurs Mo Schuttel and Tim Grootheest, which opened its doors earlier this year. It's the first restaurant for either of them, but they're certainly no strangers to the Amsterdam hospitality industry. Mo's dream of owning a restaurant began when she was a student at Toscanini worked through interacting with guests and offering advice. His interest in wine and food grew there. Tim (just like me!) found dining out magical even as a child. He always wanted to be a chef and gained experience working at, among other places, Europe. The duo has previously worked together at Xampanyeria Centers And when this beautiful building became available in the neighborhood where Mo grew up, they knew immediately: this was the moment! Along with the guys from Hotmamahot and sous-chef Mattijs Pasmans, the team was complete. The restaurant's name is taken from the Weteringbuurt neighborhood where it's located; Watergang is another word for ditch.
The restaurant's concept has been adapted to the building. Mo explains: "We'd been toying with the idea of starting a restaurant together for a while, and all sorts of concepts came up. But then we found this building, which we immediately fell in love with, and we had to refine our ideas a bit to what would work in this location. It's a small restaurant where people can dine all evening and be surprised by the chef's menu. We drew a lot of inspiration from Paris, but of course also at our previous workplaces and other restaurants.”

First of all: thank you for being here to close out 2025 <3.
2025, you were everything I hoped you would be and more. So many new memories.
I don't yet know what 2026 will bring, but last year was one for the books. Highlights included trips to China, Mexico City, Egypt, and exploring the English countryside.
Entrepreneurs probably recognize that 2025 was not an easy year.
When I started Your Little Black Book, I had one dream: not to work to stay somewhere for free in exchange for content and the pressure of a "picture perfect" experience. But to use my revenue models to book and experience those special places myself, as a guest instead of an influencer, and to give you honest tips.
After almost 15 years of entrepreneurship, I'm so happy with the balance between editorial and commercial work and that I can also say no to things that don't feel right.
At the same time, it's still special that destinations, airlines, and hotels hire me to create a customized Little Black Book for them. I have complete freedom with these campaigns, and I believe in the value of these content-based tips that truly suit your taste. And they come from me personally, not from a machine.

This will always be my dream job, the one I created almost 15 years ago. I still do as much as possible myself. That's energizing—from both successes and failures.

This is the coolest new hotel for a night away! Meet @viaantwerp, Antwerp's newest boutique hotel on the border of Zurenborg and Borgerhout (yep, voted the 2nd coolest neighborhood in the world by Time Out).
I recently stayed at this gem, and it truly has it all: a lively bar with a cozy atmosphere, walls adorned with creative art, beautiful, bright rooms, and it's within walking distance of great hotspots. And I haven't even mentioned @mea.antwerp! The delightful restaurant, helmed by a chef who previously worked at The Palomar in London. If you know, you know!

An evening of dining at Restaurant Watergang in Amsterdam
During one of our date nights and as Restaurant Watergang still Just as it's opened, we sit down for dinner. We receive a warm welcome from Mo and start the evening with a glass of bubbly. From our table by the window, I look around the restaurant. What a fantastic place. Small, intimate, like a living room restaurant, but with a top-notch team in the kitchen. Decorated with wooden tables and warm colors like ochre yellow and Amsterdam green.
| TIP: They are open for lunch on Sundays (and soon also on Saturdays).
The menu at Restaurant Watergang in Amsterdam
After glancing at the menu (which changes monthly), I immediately noticed something that makes this restaurant even more special. In addition to the meat and fish menu, there's a truly culinary five-course vegetarian menu. Both menus are created using the finest seasonal produce, with heavier fare in the winter and lighter dishes as spring approaches. Vegetables shine throughout the year, and the dishes on this first menu are French-inspired.
The €46 table d'hôte menu, which can be expanded to include oysters as a starter and cheese for dessert, is complemented by excellent wines. You can also order by the bottle. The wine list will continue to expand with new discoveries; it currently includes wines from France, Italy, and Germany, among others. Non-alcoholic drinks are served alongside soft drinks, as well as Erdinger beer. The photos below are a sample of the dishes. The menu has since been updated!
