NEW: Restaurant Nonna Amsterdam will soon open its doors

28 January 2024

Actor Thijs Boermans proudly announced that he is opening a restaurant with business partner Tijn Verstappen. Together, they will soon be at the helm of Nonna Amsterdam – a place where everything revolves around traditional Italian cuisine.

Opening soon: Restaurant Nonna Amsterdam

A restaurant with a name like ‘Nonna’ is expected to focus on traditional Italian dishes. After all, nothing beats the recipes of an average Italian grandmother, who lovingly passes them on to the next generation.

For Thijs, it is a first step in the hospitality industry, but for his business partner Tijn Verstappen, it is far from it. Tijn owns no fewer than thirteen restaurants in Amsterdam and one in Breda. Tijn’s concepts include Pazzi, Pepito, Gertrude, Linguini and La Parole. Tijn often collaborates with actors; He previously opened businesses with Manuel Broekman and Géza Weisz.

Menu Nonna

Restaurant Nonna Amsterdam is expected to open its doors in the spring on the always pleasant Jan Pieter Heijestraat in Amsterdam-West. In an Instagram video, Thijs proudly explains: ‘Nonna is an ode to all the sweet grandmothers (and women). ) in the world who are there for us unconditionally and express this mainly in large quantities of delicious food.’

The menu is not yet known, but we can figure a lot out just based on the hints. We expect classic pasta, such as pasta carbonara, arrabbiata, and bolognese, pizzas from southern Italy, and traditional dishes, such as melanin, lasagna, gnocchi, and risotto, in large quantities. Perhaps it hints at the concept that made Linguini famous: pasta and other dishes that can be ordered in a large pan, which you can enjoy with the entire table. What the pot will buy at Nonna restaurant remains a mystery, but we are looking forward to the opening anyway. To be continued…
