Stijn ter Braak – Way

Especially for Kunsthal’s HALL 6, artist Stijn ter Braak is creating a site-specific work called “Way.” The installation elevates a recognizable reality to art: a road you might encounter in Flanders, where Ter Braak originally comes from, complete with a zebra crossing and tram tracks, but upside down. Visitors have the opportunity to experience a regular stroll along the street from a completely different perspective. Ter Braak found inspiration in the sometimes surreal Belgian landscape, baroque ceiling paintings, and church architecture, and employs trompe-l’oeil effects to deceive the viewer.
