Café Beurre Amsterdam: a true Valhalla for vegetarians (and their friends)

Cafe Beurre Amsterdam is perhaps the best new vegetarian hotspot in town. This restaurant has been packed every night since it opened. And we understand why! Café Beurre is a very atmospheric restaurant with a menu full of delicious vegetarian dishes. The founders of this restaurant may be ‘old’ acquaintances for the foodies. Owner Kim Jongbloed previously worked in Balthazar’s Kitchen, the business of his aunt with whom he has now started Café Beurre.

You immediately notice that the team is already experienced within the Amsterdam restaurant scene. Café Beurre is simply but warmly and elegantly decorated with a cozy bar, but also with white covered tables. Nice atmosphere and we get a bit of a French feeling. Good to know: Café Beurre Amsterdam does not take reservations. As a result, the atmosphere is accessible and invites you to spontaneously walk in for a pleasant evening. Arriving on time helps to get a table!

In the summer, cafÉ beurre Amsterdam also has a nice terrace

The restaurant also has a nice and partly covered terrace. So in the warmer months you can also enjoy a drink outside. The terrace also applies; Café Beurre Amsterdam does not take reservations. Also nice: they also do lunch during the weekend! I am always a big fan of having a nice, extensive lunch and combining that with doing something fun. The restaurant is located in the middle of the Staatsliedenbuurt and a stone’s throw from the Westerpark and is therefore nice to combine with Fabrique des Lumières, for example.

ever-changing menu at cafÉ beurre amsterdam

The menu is small but full of surprising and delicious dishes that change regularly. Think of dishes such as brioche toast with mushrooms, a leek terrine, or chickpeas with fennel. Depending on what is in season, you actually want to try all the changing dishes and fill the table with the whole menu. Those who, like me, love a good and surprising butter can indulge themselves at Café Beurre Amsterdam. Because all dishes are vegetarian, this restaurant is a true Valhalla for the vegetarians among us. Let the team advise you for a nice matching wine. They work together with various wine merchants, so the wine list also changes regularly.
