Dining with international allure: this dream has become a reality at the brand-new concept Bottleshop Chefcounter in Amsterdam East. You no longer need to travel to Paris, Lima, Copenhagen, Cape Town, or New York for a culinary evening of international level, because the rotating pop-ups at Bottleshop Chefcounter bring the world’s best chefs to our capital city.

Bottleshop Chefcounter: a new Amsterdam hotspot with a changing concept

The Bottleshop has been housed at the Wibautstraat in Amsterdam East for a while. While Bottleshop is known for its fantastic wines, the second floor of the building – where the Chefcounter recently resides – is dedicated to changing concepts and chefs. The Bottleshop (on the ground floor) offers more than 350 varieties of (natural) wines, complementary snacks, and small dishes from French and Japanese cuisines. As the summer evenings on the Wibautstraat were relatively quiet, the owners brainstormed a new concept for their establishment. And thus, they came up with the ingenious (and innovative!) idea of inviting internationally renowned chefs to their second floor and giving them complete freedom. The evenings were fully booked in no time. To continue accommodating their regular guests, they took over the second floor when the opportunity arose.

Upstairs, guests dine in a large, modern space featuring solid concrete walls, dark oak furniture (crafted by the father of one of the owners), and enormous windows. It’s a remarkable space, enhanced by the lights of the Wibautstraat.

Menu Bottleshop Chefcounter

So here we have it, a delightful new restaurant in Amsterdam, with a changing menu based on varying chefs at the creative helm. A brief glimpse of the atmosphere reveals that at Bottleshop, you’re treated to exceptional dishes. Think brioche with eel and marinated radish, cooked carrots in ginger, cardamom, star anise, Jura risotto, tuna toast, and langoustine bisque.

Even more exciting is that when there’s no Chefcounter event, you can rent out the upstairs space for parties and gatherings. The menu is then served in a modified format.
