At the edge of the Rivierenbuurt in Amsterdam, you might eat the tastiest dumplings in the area. For anyone who doesn’t know what we’re talking about yet, let us introduce you to YanYan Dumplings Amsterdam.
Why you want to pay a visit to YanYan Dumplings Amsterdam
If someone in China asks you how you’re doing, the literal translation is: ‘Have you eaten yet?’ Food in the country is more than just a necessity; it is considered nourishment for the soul. From that ideology, YanYan Dumplings was born. YanYan is Chinese for swallow – a symbol representing happiness and prosperity. That’s exactly where everything comes together because, at YanYan, they serve the jiaozi – a modern dumpling they call a ‘crispy bundle of happiness’. In China, serving jiaozi is said to bring luck.
Menu YanYan Dumplings
You’ve come to the right place for a weekday meal at YanYan Dumplings Amsterdam; they’re open Monday through Friday for lunch and dinner from 12:00 to 18:00. You can dine in or take away. The menu offers a wide selection of their ‘bundles of happiness’: you’ll find fried and steamed dumplings with unique fillings. Classics like pork and chives, chicken and coriander, shiitake and tofu are popular. Their ‘hangover eggs dumpling‘ has become famous. It is deep-fried and filled with egg, soy, and rice, served with spicy chilli oil. As far as we’re concerned, it’s the ideal dish for anyone with a hangover.
In addition to dumplings, there’s more to create a complete meal. Their dumpling soup is a hit, but salads like the ‘roasted crunchy sesame’ and the ‘potato head’ are also a delight on your plate. And for those who plan wisely, leaving room for dessert is a must: you don’t want to miss out on the ‘St. Annyโs Paper Cup’: a sponge cake from the famous Chinese bakery St. Anny. Also, the frozen mochi is worth saving room for.
