Yes! Tomorrow is the day! Then I will board the plane to Thailand for my very first workation! After all the craziness around my book launch it’s time to recharge the battery and get some new inspiration. And what’s a better destination for that than Bangkok and Koh Samui ;-) Yay! And of course The Amsterdam City Guide and Wanderlust will be in my suitcase as well. I just cannot wait to swipe the pages through my own books when lying in the sun.  And while I’m on the plane, your weekend is about to start. NICE! Amsterdam has so much to offer and every neighbourhood has its charm. Meatless District on the Bilderdijk has opened its doors! This makes it the very first damn cool vegan restaurant in Amsterdam. No plain and boring setting here, but industrial elements in a clean space with delicious dishes. Our tip: the MD burger!

– Yes! The lobster menu at Remis47 is back! The whole month of June you can eat a lobster menu for only €35. They also serve delicious á la carte dishes with lobster.

– Cocktail fanatics or just soda enthousiasts pay attention! This Saturday Dorstlust’s Drankerij will open their doors on the Pretoriusstraat in East. With more than 150 different types of soda this will be the first soda shop of the Netherlands. The perfect stop by for your mix drinks and cocktails!

– Oysters, shrimps or just juicy lobster can be tasted at the Seafood Sunday X Atelier this Sunday! Of course you will order a prosecco or sgroppino as well to make this perfect Sunday complete. Make sure you let them know you’re coming!

– And their will be more fishes in the sea, because at Viscafé de Gouden Hoek they celebrate the arrival of the Hollandse Nieuwe during Haringfeest bij Viscafé De Gouden Hoek on Saturday. Between 13:00 hrs and 18:00 hrs you can taste herring here and dance on live music!

– Sunday it’s also time for Father’s Day! That’s why the Vergulde Eenhoorn is all about ‘real men’ this day and celebrates OUWE JONGENS KRENTENBROOD (Vaderdag)Here you can enjoy real men food & drinks on the beats of Filament!

– Are not that into big festivals, but you do like the relax vibe around it? Saturday at Noorderlicht Café is just the perfect fit for you. Festifest is here, also the smalles festival of this summer in Amsterdam. Among many others Job Jobse will play a 4 hour set!

– We were there last weekend and it was so much fun: Bacchus WijnfestivalA wonderfully cozy, uncluttered, attractive and tasty wine festival in the middle of the Amsterdamse Bos. Your fairytale place to catch up with your friends. And with very good wine of course. You can easily bring your children and dogs!

– It’s time for cake! Because Roest is celebrating their fifth birthday! From 16:00 hrs this Friday you can go there for Het Grote Verjaardagsfeestje: 5 JAAR ROEST. All the successes of the past 5 yeara will be celebrated: from beers in the sand and bites of the Sunday Roast to dancing in the warehouse.

– have you always been curious about the hidden gardens behind the mansions on the canals? This weekend it’s time for the Open Tuinen Dagen 2016  on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Together with your lover you can stroll through this dreamy green gems!

– Even though the weather isn’t that summer’ish, you will still enjoy ZOOmeravond in Artis – Ian Fisher.   Just bring your umbrella and rain coat and you’ll still have a magical night!

– The whole month of June it’s time for the Holland Festival! On various locations in the city there will be performing arts in the form of theater, music, dance, opera, film and visual arts. This weekend Son Lux & het Concertgebouworkest, Le Encantadas and The Future of Sex of Wunderbaum with Arnon Grunberg. 

– Say yes to new adventures, right? So just book a night out with  Wundernacht by Wanderlust. From June to August you can book a surprise night here, without knowing what’s going to happen. So much fun! Their are four different type of wundernachten, all filled with original locations where you haven’t been before.

Pieter & Tosch has opened their doors on the Jan Evertsentraat. At this concept store you can shop the best stuff for the home, but also jewelery and kitchen accessories. These products come from all over the world!

– Yes! Saturday and Sunday it’s time for the IJ-Hallen at the NDSM again.  Thé market with the best hidden treasures. Where will you be hunting for?

– Can the hunt for special curiosities and vintage stuff not lost long enough for you? Go also hunting at the Zuiveringshal in the Westergasfabriek. That’s where the NeighbourFood & Flea Market is. Entrance is free!

– From market stalls to trunks, because this weekend it’s also time for Verkoop je Prada uit je Lada on Blijburg. Everyone with a car and secondhand stuff for sale can make reservations for a spot. With music of street artists on the background!

– And another fun trunk sale: Rob en Coen’s Kofferbak Markt in Amsterdam-North. Also here you can go hunting for unique, vintage and special things! The markt is there in between Hotel de Goudfazant and Hangar, so a nice vibe and amazing view is guaranteed!

– For all the Vinyl-lovers! With drinks, bites and art you can enjoy the For The Record Sunday Market | Vinyl, Food & Art at the Cruquiusgilde!

– Amsterdam loves Banksy! So for all the fans of the incredible popular street artist this weekend is the Beurs van Berlage the place to be. That’s where the exposition The Art of Banksy will kick off this Saturday. Until September 30 you can enjoy more over 85 art pieces!

– You just can’t get enough of Banksy? His exposition ‘Laugh Now’ is still to seen in the Moco Museum. Thanks to great succes this expo is extended until October 30. Plus, until July 3 you can also admire the works of Andy Warhol there.

– From today on you can also check the exhibition of Helmut Newton – A Retrospective in Foam Fotografiemusem. Until September 4 more than 200 works of the legendary photographer are exposed!

– Okay, than just one more Banksy, because in the art’otel as well you can check out his art at the Street Art Evolution inspired by Banksy. Even the facades of the building are totally into Banksy style, so make sure you cycle by. The expo will be there until September 30.

– For your dosis of digital art this weekend will be your last chance to full fill the need. Until Sunday you can go at De Merkenwinkel in De Huidenstraat to check out the exposition of The Art Bowl!

– In the Tropenmuseum you can still visit the Rhythm & Roots exposition. Until October 30 you’ll learn about how music world wide is the same or just differs!

– This weekend it’s also the last weekend of Jimmy Nelson in Rademakers Gallery. With never seen before works this exposition is a true must visit!

– Are you a fan of the Rolling Stones? Make sure you go to the Eduard Planting Gallery. Till July 9 there’s the expo ‘Breaking Stones 1963-1965: A Band on the Brink of Superstardom‘.

– Another music legend that’s worth an exhibition: Amy Winehouse: A Family Portrait. This gives you a unique peek into the private life of the legendary singer. An intimate, personal exhibition until September 4!

– At Vroom & Varossieau you can check out the colourful art pieces of the Brazilian street artist Cranio. Until June 27 his paintings, drawings and toys with a critical wink to life of the 21st Century are waiting for you!

– Always wanted to travel through time? It’s possible! With 100 art pieces Made in Amsterdam takes you through the past 100 years in Amsterdam! Until Juli 31!

– The exposition of World Press Photo 2016 is still going strong in the Nieuwe Kerk. Want to see the best and most touching photographs in the world, this is your place to be. Until July 10!

Wonen in de Amsterdamse School in the Stedelijk Museum is just so much fun! You’ll discover more and more about Amsterdam. Until August 28 these 500 art works will be here for you!

– After your Friday afternoon drinks still strong enough for a wild partay? There will be a chance that you’ll end up in the Nyx at the Reguliers. During Vogue you can dance on almost every type of music.

– You just want something else then those damn slick dj’s? Club Godverdomme in the Chicago Social Club makes it possible. Here the most funniest Dj-duo’s without any experiene and ambition will play their music. It promises a hell lot of fun!
