Wyers Bar & Restaurant Amsterdam: coming soon at the Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal

17 January 2017

comfort food from the wood fired grill at wyers bar & restaurant

Dishes that are being prepared on an open wood fired grill. We notice a true trend set in restaurants that are cooking like this! Good news, because from the spring of 2017 onwards you can visit Wyers Bar & Restaurant Amsterdam for such comfort food from a grill. This new restaurant in the centre of Amsterdam will open its doors in the (also new!) Kimptom De Witt Hotel situated at the Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal. Fun, fun, fun! A new hotel that we can visit for a staycation and a restaurant that, based on the first information, will makes us very happy. I’ve stayed in Kimpton hotels before in the USA and it was always a very pleasant stay.

Menu x Wyers Bar & Restaurant Amsterdam

What can we expect from the menu at Wyers Bar & Restaurant Amsterdam? The menu will be refined but accessible; and in charge of the open kitchen is the creative mind of Executive Chef Sam DeMarco (a.k.a. Sammy D). The menu he created consists of well-known international classics with a primal Dutch twist. Think of dishes like veal tartare and chicken lollipop wings (my personal favourite that you’ll often find on the menu at Indian restaurants!) that are guaranteed to taste good. Besides that you’ll find unique and suprising dishes like a Yorkshire pudding sandwich (the ‘samwich’) and (YESSSSSS) Sammy D has his own interpretation of the famous Dutch ‘bitterbal’. For that last dish alone we’re bound to visit with the team of YOURLBB.

the location of WYERS BAR & RESTAURANT AMSTERDAM

I can hear you thinking… Another new hotel in Amsterdam? BUT WHERE? Well, at the Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal 5 and in a building with a rich history. Wyers Bar & Restaurant is opening on the exact spot where J.P. Wyers ran his textile industry during the 50’s. Unfortunately we don’t have any photos yet, but Studio Modijefsky is going to work with lots of brass details (WE LOVE), weathered shades of blue and green, leather and marble which will make the design timeless. And by the sound of it these are all the ingredients needed for a new hotspot. Only thing to complete it is a good price/quality ratio for the menu, A+ service and quality that is consistent and you have got yourself a hit.

There’ll be room for 140 guests in Wyers Bar & Restaurant, divided into three differrent atmospheres: low wooden tables, bar seating and high tables. Perfect for every moment of the day. From a coffeedate in the morning to a drink in the evening and an extensive dinner.

Extra fun: House Bar en Miss Louisa Coffee & Beignets will be opening their doors in the same building.
