comedy in amsterdam: because a good laugh is healthy
It’s one of my favourite things to do during a night out these days: stand up comedy! I think it’s brilliant. It feels great to just take a seat and forget everything around you for a moment. Let the show take over, the only thing that you need to do is laugh, laugh loudly! There is no better way to relax, if you’ll ask me. Anybody should try it. That’s why we’ve listed the 5 best comedy bars with stand up comedy in Amsterdam for you.

Secretly this comedy cafe is my favourite. You’ll find Toomler in a basement next to the Hilton Hotel. Imagine a nice cosy cafe, but with a stage. It’s super fun to go to a Comedy Train, where three comedians perform. They’re announced by the always funny mc in between sets. Whoever is performing is always a surprise, because they never announce the line-up in advance. During the show you can just order beers and eat snacks, perfect! Make sure you’ll get there on time, otherwise you’ll be sitting front row and that’s a dangerous place… :-)

Another great spot is the Kleine Comedy. It’s completely different than Toomler, but also worth a visit! The Kleine Comedy is a theater where you have to reserve a seat in advance. Prior to the show you can have a drink at the bar downstairs, because in the lounge itself you’re not allowed to eat or drink. The stand up comedians who perform often give their very own shows, a great opportunity to get to know them! Be prepared for some laughter!

A night at Boom Chicago means a night filled with food, drinks and laughter. There is a solid group of actors that perform, always with innovative shows. Every now and then there are guest appearances. Whomever is performing, a fun night out is guaranteed!

In the Comedy Cafe there are also more than one comedians performing each night. This makes it the perfect opportunity to get to know different comedians. It’s always fun to see how every comedian has its different sense of humour :-)

The DeLaMar theater is known for its theatre performances, but every now and then there are also cabaret evenings. This means an evening of laughing out loud in one of the biggest theatres of the city. Visit the website for the program, because this place sure is worth a visit.
