Which stalls at the Albert Cuyp Market are a must-know, and which spots should you avoid? We did the groundwork and concluded that you’re better off heading to the famous market in De Pijp with an empty stomach. From snacks to dumplings and squid balls, here’s an overview of the best stalls at the Albert Cuyp Market.
The tastiest stalls at the Albert Cuyp Market that you want to visit
Albert Cuyp is open six days a week (Monday through Saturday), but strolling around this famous place on the weekend is secretly the coziest despite the crowds. Those who have been there know that the atmosphere is friendly, the deals are good, and the food is even better. But the sheer number of stalls and eateries makes it easy to get overwhelmed. That’s why we’ve compiled a list of our favorites. These are the tastiest stalls at the Albert Cuyp Market for snacks, delicacies, and meals.
Twins Olives
You quickly recognize them by the sizeable waving flag with the logo and the cheerful group of guys behind the stall: Twins Olives is the go-to stall for Mediterranean delicacies, including perhaps the tastiest black olives we’ve ever had. The various types of hummus at this stall are all equally excellent, just like their freshly filled sandwiches you can enjoy while standing and eating.
Vietnamese loempia
At the beginning of the Albert Cuyp Market, there’s a Vietnamese spring roll stall whose exact name nobody knows, yet it’s world-famous in Amsterdam. They were even crowned the tastiest spring rolls in Amsterdam by Mokum Magazine.

Vlaardingse Haringhandel
No market is complete without the typical North Sea fish smell, and the Albert Cuyp is no exception. When you head towards Vlaardingse Haringhandel, your nose will tell you if you’re nearby. Despite the smell, this fish stand is famous for its herring with pickles. One of the tastiest stalls at the Albert Cuyp Market.
Van Rheenen & Zoon
Competing with the above-mentioned stall but equally excellent is Van Rheenen en Zoon. Their slogan for years has been ‘undeniably the best herring specialist.’ They are right, and the long weekend queues are proof.
Greg Monsieur
A true institution in De Pijp: Greg Monsieur at the Albert Cuyp Market. This stall offers ten grilled sandwiches, some of which change every weekend. The ‘Greg’s Madame’ is one of their most popular dishes, a generously filled grilled sandwich with onions, ham, cheese, and a fried egg.
Rudi’s Original Stroopwafels
Of all the creations from Dutch cuisine, the stroopwafel is perhaps the best invention. It’s quite a statement, but after tasting the warm cookies from Rudi’s Original Stroopwafels, you’ll likely agree. Rudi’s stall is proof that stroopwafels are no longer just for tourists.

Johan Kaas
Johan Kaas offers a wide range of Dutch and foreign cheeses. He’s always willing to provide you with extensive advice, no matter how busy it is. And, just like at the herring stalls, you’ll quickly catch the scent of Johan’s cheese when you’re in the vicinity.
Osaka Ball
Osaka Ball consistently impresses every week with their fried squid balls. This stall is famous among Japanese residents in Amsterdam as well as enthusiasts of Japanese cuisine. Undoubtedly, it is one of the best stalls at the Albert Cuyp Market.
