The oyster season has started again! But where exactly can you enjoy the best oysters in Amsterdam? It’s time for an overview.

Best oysters in Amsterdam

The best oysters in Amsterdam each deserve an award and a mention in this list. For the Zeeland flat oyster, the oyster season runs from September to April. It’s about time to make an overview of the best oysters in Amsterdam.

Goede Vissers

At the Noordermarkt, you can slurp oysters while standing, freshly shucked by the market vendor. They’re wild and incredibly fresh, without any frills. And when you’re serving the best oysters in Amsterdam, you don’t need much else.

Le French Café

The men behind 3WO felt it was time for a French venture and started Le French Café in the building where Walter’s Woodbury had been located for years. In addition to numerous French classics, at Le French Café, you can of course enjoy their acclaimed Fines de Claires oysters, prepared in the traditional way.

Hangar East

Hangar East is the second location of the trusted spot in Noord. In Amsterdam-Oost, you can also dock your boat and then enjoy everything this place has to offer. The owners call their second establishment a ‘mini-break in your own city’ – and we couldn’t have put it better ourselves. Both Hangars are recognizable by their warehouse-style architecture, one in Noord and the other in Oost. The new location is situated at the Nautix marina, which is just as new. The oysters with mignonette (€3.50 each) are a staple on the menu.

George Marina

At George Marina, you’re in the right place for the best oysters in Amsterdam. They prepare them in two different ways: cold and warm. Cold options include the Fines de Claires, Creuses de Zélande, and Pornstar oyster (with passion fruit and caviar), while on the warm side, you can enjoy the Oyster Rockefeller and the Asian Steamed oyster. From classic to modern, George Marina has it all.

Panache

At Panache, it’s always oyster time. And we’re happy about that because an extensive seafood menu simply calls for oysters. Panache serves them without too much fuss, just the way they should be. And that’s refreshingly delicious.

The Seafood Bar

Seafood Bar wouldn’t live up to its name without being on this list. In addition to extensive frut de mer platters, they also have excellent oysters. You can enjoy them at three locations in the city: Pijp, South, and the city center.

Bistrot Neuf

Bistrot Neuf knows how to master French classics and believes there’s little need to add anything extra. That means their menu is packed with traditional dishes but with a modern twist. When it comes to oysters, they offer Fines de Claires and Le Ballon de Canale from Brittany.

Visaandeschelde

In Amsterdam-Zuid, you’ll find Visaandeschelde – a seafood restaurant that has been a household name in Amsterdam and its surroundings for over twenty years. They turn fresh fish, seasonal, and regional products into extraordinary dishes. When it comes to oysters, you have a choice of eight (!) different preparations; from Asian to steamed, classic or fried: you can taste it all here.
