For a long time, Badhuis was a place we had to miss in Amsterdam. A spot that once stood for connecting residents lost its function. With three new owners and a new area plan for the Javaplein, the Badhuis Amsterdam will be ‘returned’ to the neighbourhood’s inhabitants. Discover everything we know about the latest hotspot that will open its doors in March 2024.

Why the Amsterdam Badhuis is worth a visit

Badhuis Amsterdam will open its doors again in March 2024. The place – named after its original function – functioned as a bathhouse in the 1950s-1980s. One of the new owners, Riad Farhat, grew up on the Insulindeweg (close to Badhuis) and fondly remembers the place’s original function from his youth. Everything has come full circle for him, and the same applies for many other residents.

You can visit the new Badhuis from early morning till late at night. Breakfast, coffee, lunch, drinks, dinner, and even more: this is the new hotspot in Amsterdam East for all these needs. The owners asked residents what they hoped the renovated Badhuis would become, and most agreed: a destination that fuels connection. In whatever form: from joint game nights to music programming to an ‘extension of your living room.’ It is not yet entirely clear how the new owners will respond to these wishes, but it is clear that they want to restore the sense of togetherness within the neighbourhood.

Menu Badhuis Amsterdam East

The official menu of Badhuis Amsterdam has not yet been announced, but the first images of beautiful dishes are now appearing on their socials. We spotted ceviche, octopus with citrus fruits and green herbs, and risotto with peas and yellow zucchini. The first images look promising – and in this case, we are sure that waiting will pay off. The doors will officially open in March; we are still waiting for an exact date. To be continued…
