Fancy a bit of ice-skating in Amsterdam? Good news, it’s time to dust off those skates because the most enjoyable ice rinks in Amsterdam are opening (almost) again! Luckily, you don’t have to wait for the temperature to drop towards freezing this year. The season at Jaap Eden Baan, for example, kicks off as early as October 21st. Hopefully, we’ll also get the chance to skate on natural ice this year. But until that happens, you can head to these ice rinks in Amsterdam that are reopening in 2023. Tip: rental skates are available at the locations!

3 x ICE skating rinks in amsterdam to try in 2023

ICE SKATING AT JAAP EDENBAAN

The Jaap Eden ice rink is the ultimate ice skating venue in Amsterdam where you can truly hone your skating skills. It boasts a 400-meter track where you can glide without having to dodge children, amateurs, and other distractions, as everyone has their lane. The season at Jaap Edenbaan starts on October 21st, and skating lessons are available as well. And after your skating session, be sure to stay for a while and enjoy some hot chocolate or mulled wine at the cosy Cafe Jaap! They currently have a fantastic offer where youth tickets cost only €1, and the second adult ticket is free. Hopefully, they’ll maintain this offer throughout the season. More info >>

AMSTERDAM WINTER PARADISE 2023

The Amsterdam Winter Paradise is returning this year for two weeks of winter fun at the RAI in Amsterdam! Of course, it includes a delightful ice rink. But there’s so much more to do than just ‘skating.’ This year, the Amsterdam Winter Paradise is bigger than ever before. The RAI will be covered in a thick layer of snow and adorned with thousands of lights. You can enjoy ice skating (and more!) from December 14th, 2023, to December 30th, 2023. More info >>

REMBRANDTPLEIN ICE SKATING RINK

During the winter months, you can also head to Rembrandtplein for a round of skating with friends or your loved one. After skating, indulge in the tastiest mulled wine or grab a bite at the Utrechtsestraat or a movie at Tuschinski corner of the square. Especially in the evening, it looks incredibly charming with all the lights. The ice rink at Rembrandtplein will be open from November 17th, 2023, to January 7th, 2024. More info >>
