Van Puffelen Amsterdam: brown cafe on the canals9 November 2014
Drinks and bitterbals at Van Puffelen after shopping at the Nine Streets!
Now it’s getting colder I get many questions about nice brown cafes? Van Puffelen is a cosy brown café with a super central location in Amsterdam on the canals. It’s located on the Prinsengracht close to the Nine Streets and therefore a perfect spot for a glass of red wine and bitterbals after a shopping spree.
I think this cafe is great in the cold winter months. It’s dark and cosy inside. The bar is packed with locals who live on the canals and next to you there’s a tourist enjoying a beer. The typical mix of going for a drink in Amsterdam City Center!

At Van Puffelen they also serve great gastrobar food. Affordable and seasonal. From the winter-menu I had the Italian meatloaf, but it also has dishes on it like ravioli and duck breast. Perfect for dinner after the drinks in the bar!
