9 x hotspots on Rokin in Amsterdam to visit

5 February 2016

the rokin in amsterdam is filled with hotspots

We all know the Rokin in the center of Amsterdam, right? For years this wide street is plagued by the construction of the North-South line, but it has almost come to an end, hopefully. The small paths made room for wide sidewalks and therefore: hello new hotspots. YAY! Lowspots are getting a make over or make place for new spots. That’s why we thought it’s about time to write a post about the Rokin. We’ve selected 9 x the best hotspots on the Rokin. Do you know them all?

9 x hotspots on the rokin in amsterdam to visit now

Terpentijn: Terpentijn is a bar/restaurant and is perfect for lunch, dinner, streetfood or a good drink. Downstairs the bar, upstairs the restaurant. They serve good cocktails and snacks. Think of nachos for when you’re having drinks, but when you come here for dinner you can order grilled vegetables or that burger..

De Drie Graefjes: You’re going to De Drie Graefjes for a good cup of coffee or tea, but above all you go there for the cakes, cupcakes and pastries. Those are delicious! The interior is messy, but also very cosy. Our big faves are the carrot cake and the red velvet cake. They serve big pieces and you can take home the leftover if needed.

Cafe de Paris: Where you first found Bar Italia, is now Cafe de Paris. The name says it all: the Italian kitchen has been replaced by the French cuisine. On the menu steak with foie gras, ceviche and salade nicoise, i like! Are you full? Then you can spoil yourself with some delicious cocktails from the bar. Feel like dancing? That’s also possible, because they are opened till late on some nights. YAY!

Tinner: You go to Tinner for tasty and fulfilling dishes. Grilled sandwiches, Coco french toast made of sugar bread and so much more. In the evening you’ll find Terpentijn here, but during the day you can come here to visit Tinner for breakfast and lunch.

Vascobelo V-Bar: Need a coffee break? Go to Vascobelo V-Bar is the book store Scheltema. Buy a book, have a coffee and relax. But also for breakfast and lunch, this is the right spot! Sandwiches with grilled chicken? Yes please!

Metropolitain: Under Cafe de Paris is now Metropolitain. Paper Planes was situated here first. Here you can go for all day brunch, YAY! They serve croissants, porridge, fruit, eggs benedict. But also sandwiches, burgers and salads. Yum!

Gartine: Hidden in a small alley between the Kalverstraat and the Rokin you’ll find Gartine Amsterdam. It’s one of my favourite spots for a high tea :-) It’s the perfect hotspot for coffee, lunch and, like I said, a high tea. Delicious dishes, made of biological ingredients as many as possible. Just as small and crowded as De Drie Graefjes, so make sure you make a reservation!

Adam & Siam: Adam & Siam brings the best of two worlds together, because here Amsterdam embraces Asia. That means that you can get both cuisines on the menu: Oriental dishes (keng kerry raj) and Dutch meals. And also the interior joins this mix!

De Bierfabriek: Okay, The Bierfabriek is not officially on the Rokin. But hey, they’ve ruled the place for over 5 years and only recently they a few doors down to Nes 67. So yes, of course they need to be part of this list. Besides their home-brewed beer they also serve very tasty chicken.

Enjoy!
