Check: with an A380 of Emirates to Dubai!
As a frequent traveller there are many different things on my bucket list. Flying with an A380 is one of them. And as a little lady I of course wanted to sit on the upper deck. Just like when I went to London for the first time and made a ride in a double-decker bus.
And YES! I can check this off my bucket list now. I did it! With Emirates I flew in an A380 to Dubai last week. In a brand new plane, it felt like i could still smell the fresh paint ;-). At the check-in counter they gave me the biggest surprise ever… an upgrade to Business Class. OMG! How nice :-). The first thing I though was: too bad the flight ‘only’ takes 5,5 hours haha.
For the first time ever I’m putting a blog live at 30.000 feet up the sky. HOW COOL!!
Although I’m on a plane about twice in a month, it’s always very special to fly Business Class. It’s like a party within a party (aka working holiday). From the glass of champagne when you step into the plane to the toilet bag with minis. At Emirates it’s a toilet bag with lovely products from Bvlgari. So you can pamper your skin while flying! LOVE it. And did I already tell you that I was indeed sitting on the upper deck of the A380? So high! I couldn’t even see the ground anymore when I peeked through the window at the other side of the aisle.

In this blog I’ll tell you everything about what it’s like to fly to Dubai with Emirates in an A380. I’m able to do that with just two words: SO AWESOME! But it’s more fun to share 7 things that you need to know about the A380 and Emirates. Which is of course even more special because of the upgrade to Business Class. But after reading the lovely comments I got on Instagram I can tell that the Economy Class is luckily just as enjoyable! Thanks for sharing everyone! It’s for example a super quiet airplane. While flying you’ll barely notice the noise coming from the engines.
1 >> The bar >> A380 >> Emirates
I travel a lot for Your Little Black Book, but now even I had to pinch myself a little. At the A380 of Emirates there’s a real bar in the business class. Where you can sit at for a good glass of wine, cocktail or champagne while you’re eating a delicious snack. During the whole flight you can get bites there, like: tuna tartare, macarons and mini sandwiches. After departure they even serve warm snacks like yakitori and mini quiches. Doesn’t that sound too good?

What makes flying with the A380 so special to me are the cameras on the plane. If you’re flying during daytime and it’s clear you’re able to see where you’re flying. At the bottom and at the front of the plane there are cameras installed that show you the entire flight. It’s also very special to see the lit up landing strip at night when you’re about to land! Too bad I was a bit sleepy and forgot to take a photo ;-).

OMG! How cool is this? Emirates has wifi on the plane. And that’s not only in the luxurious A380 but also on other flights. So I could actually upload a selfie while in business class during the flight and even put a blog online and Whatsapp the girls at the office. Almost unreal if you think of all the possibilities in the future!

Eating in business class is a little party by itself. You can choose whatever you like from an á la carte menu. Starters, main and desserts that are served on a linen covered table at your chair. Sounds luxurious right? During this flight I ate such delicious smoked duck as a starter and then a bit of lamb. As dessert I had a cheese platter. HMMMMM!

I don’t think that I flew with an airline before that had such an extensive entertainment package. And on the screen in business class it was even better. The screen is so big and sharp! You choose your entertainment with a tablet which allows you to easily scroll through all the movies. There are so many movies available that you almost don’t know where to start. Well? A movie like Fury with Brad Pitt is always a good choice ;-). Extra nice: the headphones from Emirates have noise reduction. That means you really can’t hear anything from the engines while you’re watching a movie.

It probably won’t surprise you that the service in business class is extremely good. At Emirates you will be completely satisfied when leaving the aircraft. Whether if you want a cup of real cappuccino, an extra blanket or another glass of champagne… everything is brought to you with a warm smile. When you walk into business class, the stewards also come to you to introduce themselves personally and they call you by your name. I think that’s one of those personal touched that make you feel special and appreciated as a customer.

Perhaps the nicest thing about flying business class with the Emirates A380 is the flatbed. You can make a real bed from your chair and they even give you a mattress to make it more comfortable. The flatbed is perfect for evening flights. You are well rested when you arrive at your destination. I always love to make my little ‘home’ in the bed. Super cosy with the blanket!
After flying for about 5,5 hours we arrived in Dubai. I was honestly feeling a little bit sad that I had to leave my cosy spot and flatbed ;-). Thank you Emirates for this amazing experience.
