Sunday 7: Anna Nooshin from NSMBL.nl

22 March 2015

7 questions to entrepreneur and sushi lover Anna Nooshin NSMBL!

A few weeks ago Anna and I were in Hong Kong together hitting all the hotspots and talking girl talk till the early hours in the business class of Cathay Pacific. Amsterdam is so small and yet we never really met. Anna is an entrepreneur and co-founder of the successful online magazine NSMBL.com (Ensemble). Soon she launches her own video platform ánd her first book: On Top. Which you can actually pre order already here. In this Sunday 7 Anna Nooshin tells us all about her Amsterdam.

Tip: Anna can be followed on Twitter and Instagram via @annanooshin. :-)

The perfect Sunday
“Sunday is my favourite day of the week. Since I work out 5 to 6 times a week, Sunday is always my resting day. The perfect Sunday is when I can sleep in and then have brunch (Bakers & Roasters is still my favourite). Other than that, I really enjoy doing nothing at all on Sundays and it’s always my make-up free day.”

Favourite neighbourhood
“My own neighbourhood at Zeedijk. It’s grungy, not too family-centered and I love how all kinds of different cultures and people are brought together in this neighbourhood. I also like the atmosphere at the Wallen, to me that is Amsterdam at its purest and most beautiful.

My 3 favourite places in this neighbourhood:
STACH at Nieuwmarkt (no explanation needed, I come here almost everyday for the yummiest meals, juices, etc.)
– Restaurant A Fusion: don’t be mislead by the fluorescent lamps, this is really one of the best restaurants in Amsterdam. Many star chefs love eating here and the menu is quite pricey, despite the interior. The sushi here is divine, but basically everything here taste amazing including the watermelon bubble tea.
– Restaurant Little Saigon for a quick and cheap bite, super delicious!”

Shopping in Amsterdam
“I’m not an extreme fan of shopping, but if I do shop I would for example go to these shops:
Rika and Acne Studios in the Nine Streets. Rika because of their clothing collection, Acne Studios because it is one of my favourite brands.
Shoebaloo for shoes
Salon Heleen Hulsmann. I come here every month to re-stock my wardrobe. Heleen is truly my role model for styling, always looking incredible and her selection of items and knowledge and style are really amazing.”

Favourite restaurants
” – Otaru for sushi, super yummy, not that known so no waiting line for a table and everything is really fresh
Izakaya because they have such unexpected combinations
&Samhoud because it literally is 1 minute away from my house and the street food menu there is crazy good”

Tomato juice instead of alcohol
“I actually prefer having a drink with friends at little restaurants, I’m not really a pub person. On Fridays I’m usually at Ku Kitchen or Bar Moustache. I would probably order a glass of tomato juice (I barely ever drink alcohol) and if I really feel like having some alcohol, I would get a vodka with lemon and ice. Every Friday night I’m out with my 2 best friends, that is our sacred night and we have kept it this way for about 10 years now.”

Favourite meal?
“Everything with cheese and dough with more cheese and dough. About half year ago, I completely changed my diet and lifestyle so I pretty much completely eliminated these kind of foods out of my diet completely and I’ve started to train a lot. But if I want to let myself go I would usually allow myself to have something with cheese and dough. The big burgers at Cannibale Royale or the pasta at Spaghetteria are for example some meals that I really like having sometimes.

Bucket list
“I would love to see more of South-America. Burning Man has been on my bucket list for a long time, but I’ll be going there this year! I’d like to try Gracias Madre in LA sometime, nothing too special but everything is vegan here so I can’t wait to try that out.”
