Instagram Monday: some Maastricht instagramspiration to kick off week 5!

4 February 2013

A weekend in Maastricht!

After a week of IT problems my love and I splurged our self with a luxurious weekend in Maastricht. This beautiful city in the south of The Netherlands is the perfect place for a weekend getaway. Great restaurants, and lots, lots, lots of shopping. From high street to high fashion, Maastricht has it all. Here’s an update of my weekend on instagram. You can follow iannsterdam on Instagram to make sure not to miss out on the hotspots I visit: www.instagram.com/iannsterdam.

1 +  3 + 6) Tried and tested the beautiful Kruisherenhotel in Maastricht for you. This design hotel is located in a former church and cloister in the heart of the city centre of Maastricht. Very impressive architecture where heritage and modern design meet. In the summertime there’s a lovely inner patio, which is great for lunch. Even if you’re not staying in the hotel!

2) Cafe Zondag in the neighbourhood Wijck is a very trendy spot for breakfast, lunch or a tapas dinner. Hipster crowd and great place for TGI Friday drinks to kick of the weekend!

4) Marres Kitchen is one of Maastricht newest hotspots for lunch or an early dinner. They serve great Mediterranean food! In the summer of 2013 they open a outdoor terrace in the garden. Marres Kitchen is located in the cultural Marres centre. Very friendly staff!

5) The concept store Traders Pop is around for years, but still one of the coolest stores in Maastricht. They sell postcards, books, trendy clothes and shoes and have a separate section with a very good selection of vintage.

7) For the most beautiful view on the Vrijthof in Maastricht you have to book a suite at the luxury modern guesthouse Haas op het Vrijthof. This place made us feel like living in Maastricht for a night! Sitting in ‘my’ Eames lounge chair overlooking the square. Hardly wanted to leave the suite for some shopping ;-).

How was your weekend? Love to hear about it!
