Ivo’s Kitchen Amsterdam: restaurant on the Witte de Withplein

9 June 2015

Sustainable, freshly cooked and mostly gluten free at Ivo’s Kitchen in Amsterdam

Have you already been to Ivo’s Kitchen in Amsterdam? Hidden at the Witte de Withplein and the hidden gem of De Baarsjes if you ask me.This hotspot gives a very laid back feeling with a colourful vintage interior. A place where you would go to hang out all day or maybe for a quick bite. But don’t be mistaken: Ivo cooks extraordinarily good here! So definitely come here if you want to have a wonderful dinner for a fair price!

I just love discovering those spots in Amsterdam that are unexceptionally good. With a chef like Ivo you’d imagine a very chic restaurant – considering his excellent cooking. But Ivo and his wife Svetlana wanted to create something different, someplace where you’d feel at home while having great food. I’d say: mission accomplished!

Although we had a table booked near the window, my love and I sat at the bar next to the open kitchen for the whole evening. This way, we could exactly see how Ivo cooked the dishes while he’d tell us more about the ingredients and the cooking techniques he uses. And we could taste all kinds of delicious things too!

Ivo cooks with seasonal vegetables and sustainable products which results to creating refreshing dishes. A must-try appetiser are the homemade couscous croquettes with mint yoghurt sauce. So delicious! But Ivo’s also known for his rhubarb orange sauce! We were able to taste that with a piece of fish and some roasted tomatoes. After that we shared a burger with Palmesteyn ox and we had a place with lamb, ratatouille and potato mash with lavender. Sounds good doesn’t it? It sure tasted impressive! Totally star quality.

Time for dessert >>> Ivo’s Kitchen in Amsterdam

Although we were almost completely full and didn’t have any space left for a dessert, we just had to try the gluten-free chocolate cake. Homemade and just like all the other dishes, it’s incredibly good. Because Ivo’s wife has gluten intolerance, nearly all his dishes are gluten free. Convenient and healthy.

During weekdays you can go to Ivo’s Kitchen in Amsterdam for a lovely dinner. But, during the weekend they’re now also open for lunch! And at the moment they also have a terrace where you can sit for a delicious seasonal soup or salad. Or you can treat yourself with a gluten-free cake of course ;-).
