Ice cream date, anyone?
One of the newest openings at Amstel1 is De Boule De Boule, an ice cream and pastry parlour just behind Waterlooplein. After trying it, I can confirm: the ice cream is really, really good.
𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗩𝗜𝗕𝗘
After seeing their Instagram, you might think of places like Folderol in Paris, the spot that became famous for pairing ice cream with wine.
But De Boule De Boule feels different. Less destination wine bar, more day-time neighbourhood café where you can stop by for homemade ice cream, a pastry, coffee and, yes, a glass of wine.
Inside you’ll find shelves filled with vinyl records, a display of freshly made ice cream and homemade pastries crafted by two in-house pastry chefs.
𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗖𝗥𝗢𝗪𝗗
Amstel1 is still being discovered by Amsterdam and it was a little quiet during our visit. I expect the vibe to only get better as more shops open and people find their way here. I’m especially curious to see how it feels this weekend with the market taking over the area for the first full weekend. This covered location with a courtyard feel is incredibly promising.

• Olive oil & basil ice cream with sea salt
• Chocolate ice cream with hazelnut topping
• Paired with a glass of Chardonnay and an orange wine.
All of the ice cream is made in-house and completely vegan. If nobody had told me, I honestly wouldn’t have guessed.
𝗪𝗛𝗬 𝗬𝗢𝗨𝗥 𝗟𝗜𝗧𝗧𝗟𝗘 𝗕𝗟𝗔𝗖𝗞 𝗕𝗢𝗢𝗞 𝗟𝗢𝗩𝗘𝗦 𝗜𝗧
The ice cream is excellent, but what makes De Boule De Boule interesting is that it’s more than an ice cream shop. It’s a place for coffee, pastries, a glass of wine or drinks after a performance at the Stopera.
And yes, I’m already planning to go back to try more flavours, but next time in the evening for a dessert after dinner elsewhere. Just to see how the space changes throughout the day. What I would order then? Very curious about the White Coffee ice-cream!

Hello June!
The first weekend of the month is looking very good if you ask me. Think wine festivals, vintage markets, oysters, live jazz, street art and a ridiculous amount of new restaurants to put on your radar.
This weekend I’m especially excited about Bacchus Wine Festival in the Amsterdamse Bos, Sunday Market at Westergas, the oysters & brocante afternoon at Le French Café and Red Light Jazz taking over hidden venues across the city centre.
Also fun: STRAAT Museum is hosting its first Women in Street Art Weekend at the NDSM-werf, Fort Negen is bringing back its cult-favourite pizza pop-up for two nights only, and if you’re heading to Noord anyway, it’s your last chance to cycle through Amsterdam’s Oatly Bike Thru before it disappears on June 7.
And for those always looking for new places to try: The Jollof Club, Café de Vos, Bar How and the terrace of Monne (right on the Amstel!), are all brand new and worth knowing about.

From the IJ-Hallen and Pure Markt in Park Frankendael to the Sunday Market at Rokin and treasure hunting at the Amstelveld Antiques Market.
And in Noord you’ll want to stay all day, because Stripfest is taking over the Hamerkwartier with food, music, workshops and parties at spots like FC Hyena, Skatecafé and Oedipus.
Also very into the sound of the new Zuiver Bar & Nai!! Sake Bar, Meneer van Galen and Bonburger Noord.

Life lately.
Soms heb ik van die momenten waarop ik even stilsta bij hoe bijzonder dit allemaal eigenlijk is.
Dat ik ruim 14 jaar geleden begon met een blog waarop ik gewoon mijn favoriete adressen wilde delen. Dat Your Little Black Book inmiddels zoveel mensen inspireert om nieuwe plekken te ontdekken. En dat ik nog steeds nieuwe bestemmingen mag verkennen, zoals deze maand Taiwan.
Wat ik misschien nog wel het leukste vind? Dat jullie overal met me mee naartoe gaan. Naar nieuwe restaurants, hotels, steden en landen. Maar ook naar de meer persoonlijke momenten tussendoor.
De lieve berichten die ik dagelijks krijg, de tips die jullie terugsturen, de plekken die jullie ontdekken via de guides. Het blijft bijzonder om te zien hoeveel mensen al jaren onderdeel zijn van deze community.

Another long weekend and honestly… Amsterdam is really showing off right now.
This Pinkster weekend is packed with festivals, food markets, and summer events all over the city. Think Asian street food at Art of Taste on Museumplein, four days of Lepeltje Lepeltje at the NDSM-werf, and so much more.
Also on my mom radar this weekend: family festival GOLD at the Amsterdamse Bostheater, Ridderweekend at Muiderslot, and Pinksterweekend at Jeugdland Amsterdam.

Zo van de airport door naar dit zaakje om soup dumplings en zó veel meer te proeven! Dat is wat ik noem een soft landing 😉 <3
In Taipei ga je naar een Soy Milk Shop voor ontbijt. Warme soy milk die je eet in een bowl en stoommandjes met de lekkerste dumplings en baozi’s. Je kunt mij echt wakker maken voor dit soort ontbijtjes. Deze lokale ontbijttentjes komen in alle soorten en maten, van Michelin-recommended adressen tot hole-in-the-wall-kraampjes.
De meeste soy milk shops zijn al vroeg (en soms zelfs 24 uur per dag) open en dit zijn de gerechten die je wilt proeven:

Biologische & Boerenmarkt Noordermarkt
Eén van de eerste boerenmarkten in Amsterdam is die op de Noordermarkt midden in de Jordaan. Gezellig shoppen bij de kramen met heerlijke ingrediënten vers van de boer. Tip: ga daarna gezellig appeltaart eten en koffie drinken bij Winkel43.

Biologische & Boerenmarkt Zuidermrkt
Een gezellige biologische buurtmarkt in Amsterdam-Oud-Zuid. Iedere zaterdag 20 kramen met groenten en fruit en ander lekkers vers van de boer.

Biologische & Boerenmarkt Buikslotermeerplein
Handig voor iedereen die in Amsterdam-Noord woont. Bij deze boerenmarkt op het Buikslotermeerplein in Amsterdam-Noord kun je groente, fruit, kaas en vlees kopen van boeren in de buurt van Amsterdam.

Pure markt
Een andere favoriet van ons is de Pure Markt, die op verschillende locaties in Amsterdam wordt gehouden, waaronder het Frankendaelpark en het Westerpark. Je vindt hier alles van biologische groenten en fruit tot kunst en ambacht. Het is een fijne markt waar je kunt genieten van lekker eten en lokale producten en er is soms ook live muziek aanwezig.

Op deze markt in Zeeburg kun je terecht voor groente, fruit, brood, kaas en andere delicatessen. Deze staat, in tegenstelling tot veel andere markten, niet op zaterdag maar op woensdag.

Biologische & Boerenmarkt Nieuwmarkt
Vlak bij Amsterdam Centraal Station vind je op de Nieuwmarkt iedere zaterdag een fijne biologische markt. Deze farmers markt is niet de grootste in Amsterdam, maar je vindt er wel alles wat je nodig hebt.

Haarlemmerplein
Deze markt is elke woensdag te vinden. Vaak zijn de marktkoopmannen hier ook de makers van het product dat ze verkopen en zijn dus nauw betrokken bij de productie. Leuk!

Dit is geen grote biologische markt, er staan namelijk maar zo’n tien kraampjes. Maar je vindt er genoeg producten.

Boerenmarkt in Almere
Niet ver buiten Amsterdam kun je elke zaterdagochtend in Almere terecht voor de biologische boerenmarkt in de grote schuur van de stadsboerderij.

Boerderij Lindenhoff
Op 20 minuten van Amsterdam, houdt ook geregeld heel gezellige markten. Behalve voor je verse boodschappen kun je hier op donderdag, vrijdag en zaterdag terecht voor een stuk versgebakken appeltaart in de tuinkamer. Bovendien heeft de boerderij een uitgebreide website met webshop waar je je favoriete biologische producten ook nog kunt kopen.
Boerderij Lindenhoff, Baambrugge – lindenhoff.nl – check de website om te zien wanneer de eerstvolgende markt is.
Meer biologische boodschappen doen in Amsterdam
Geen openlucht markt, maar wel goede supermarkten met biologische producten zijn: Landmarkt, Odin, Ekoplaza en Marqt. Ook STACH food, met inmiddels maar liefst veertien eigen winkels in Amsterdam, is een perfect adres voor je biologische boodschappen, je ontbijt, lunch én diner. Daarnaast is in Amsterdam sinds kort een tweetal zero waste winkels geopend. De Aanzet aan de 1e Jacob van Campenstraat verkoopt eco voedingsmiddelen, waar mogelijk van Hollandse bodem. Bij Delicious Food in de Jordaan kun je zelf noten, gedroogd fruit en muesli tappen van een enorme wand. Little Plant Pantry, aan de Bosboom Toussaintstraat 45-H is een plasticvrije winkel met een klein vegan café, waar je komt voor onverpakte bulkgoederen als rijst, pasta, noten en linzen, maar ook oliën, azijn en natuurlijke zepen.
