Zero Zero Amsterdam: you can't have missed that this lunch hotspot in Amsterdam City Center is the ultimate summer hangout and destination for the tastiest sandwiches. The hype is real, and for good reason. Get your lunch at zero-zero, then your sandwich will not only be prepared quickly and fresh, but you'll also meet the nicest people in the (often long) line. For both coffee and lunch, this is the place to be – and yes, it's definitely worth the wait. Due to its resounding success, Zero Zero has recently expanded beyond Spiegelstraat to the heart of the Pijp: you'll discover the Pijp's newest lunch spot on Gerard Doustraat.
It's not often that a sandwich shop and delicatessen opens in Amsterdam that's such an instant success as Zero Zero Amsterdam. And that was to be expected, because here they serve the perfect schiacciatas, coffee, and wine, from early in the morning (8:00 AM weekdays, 9:00 AM weekends) until they're sold out. The idea came from Marco Greco, the culinary mastermind behind the equally popular Ceppi's Trattoria in Amsterdam-Centrum, one of the most promising new restaurants in Amsterdam this year.

Zero Zero's menu features classic Italian sandwiches, with meat or vegetarian options. Mortadella is a firm favorite among meat-eaters, while vegetarians rave about zucchini. High-quality ingredients are paramount, and Marco's sandwiches are inspired by his childhood in Italy. Everything, absolutely everything, is freshly prepared: from the rolls to the cutting of the meat, cheese, and vegetables. The rolls, called schiacciatas, are crispy and leave you wanting more. But be warned, even if you can't choose, one sandwich is more than enough—they're quite large. So go for one at a time and consider it a good reason to come back the next day.
