Whale watching in Reykjavik: on safari in Iceland!

During a short city trip to Reykjavik or a tour of Iceland, a whale watching tour is highly recommended. The best months for whale watching in Reykjavik are From June to August, whales migrate to colder waters. But don't worry if you visit Reykjavik during a different time, because whales are spotted year-round. Several whales are permanent residents in the bay just outside Reykjavik! There are several whale watching companies in Reykjavik; we went with Elding, and they were excellent. Unfortunately, we weren't so lucky on this trip; after three hours of sailing, we only saw a whale's back and fin ;-) (in April). If you don't have sea legs, prepare for a wild ride. The water is very rough, and the boat rocks enormously. I've been on many boat trips in my life, but I've never seen so many people get sick! So if you're prone to this… be prepared :-). The old harbor where the boats are moored is within walking distance of the city center. After a morning of whale watching in Reykjavik, it's nice to have lunch at the organic bistro. Icelandic Fish & Chips near the harbour.
