Bucket list tip: spot fireflies on Bohol in the Philippines

For my book Feed Your Wanderlust I interviewed dozens of colleagues from the travel industry about their bucket list tips. Lily combines her love of fashion with her other passion: travel. On her blog and Instagram, she shares the cutest outfits from the most beautiful places around the world.

There are several places in Asia where you can admire fireflies, and the island of Bohol in the Philippines is one of them. You can opt for a motorized boat tour, but kayaking is much more environmentally friendly and authentic. Plan it for a clear evening and paddle through a mangrove under the moonlight and starry sky for an hour in the dark. Your local guide knows exactly where the fireflies are twinkling. This was the most magical moment I couldn't capture on camera, but I experienced it so vividly. I highly recommend adding this to your bucket list.
