The best spots? After security, you can eat Italian food at Carluccio's, grab my favorite sandwich at Joe & The Juice, and shop at Today Duty Free, Fashion Gallery, and Burberry, among others. This YLBB shortlist helps you make the most of your time before departure.
Anyone who knows me a little knows that I don't like rushing. When I fly intercontinentally, I actually always try to leave enough time between security and boarding. Because that is precisely when the journey really begins for me. Grabbing a tasty bite, taking a stroll through the shops, and of course, picking up something delicious for the road. Are you flying via Departure Hall 3 at Schiphol? Then, after security, you will arrive in a somewhat more compact part of the airport. That is actually nice, because the food spots and shops are conveniently located close together, and you don't have to walk far to grab a bite to eat or do some shopping.
| TRAVEL TIP: Did you know that you can book a security time slot via the Schiphol app or website 3 days before departure? Make sure you arrive within 15 minutes before or after your time slot, that you have checked in, and have already dropped off your checked baggage. This way, you will get through security quickly and have maximum time to discover all the new things. Book a time slot directly here >>
From eating Italian food at Carluccio's and picking up my regular order at Joe & The Juice to shopping for beauty (and more) at Today Duty Free or trying on sunglasses before you travel, in this guide I have gathered my favorite spots to remember for the next time you fly from this part of Schiphol. That way, you know exactly where you want to be before heading to the gate.

Are you crazy about Italian cuisine? Then the new Carluccio's is a spot to remember at Schiphol! You can go there at any time of day, but it is certainly a welcome addition if you are flying intercontinentally around dinnertime. There are various pizzas and pastas on the menu. The pappardelle with slow-cooked beef ragù immediately stands out to me, as does the seafood linguine with shrimp, mussels, and squid. Are you traveling with several people? Then the antipasti platter is nice to share beforehand. There is also plenty of choice for vegetarians, such as risotto with mushrooms and truffle. And are you traveling with children? Then there is an extensive kids' menu featuring pasta, pizza, and lasagna, among other things. When I was at Schiphol recently, I grabbed something tasty to eat on the plane, but next time I will definitely have a more extensive meal here. View the location and opening hours here >>

For me, a stop by Today Duty Free has become a standard routine whenever I have time to spare before boarding. You'll find a wide range of products there, including perfume, beauty, skincare, drinks, and chocolate. Naturally, I head straight into the beauty section, with favorites like Le Labo, Charlotte Tilbury, Aesop, Caudalie, and Nuxe. When I walked into this location recently, my eye caught something I hadn't seen so extensively before: an entire shelf dedicated to special beauty editions available exclusively at airports. Hard to resist, I can tell you! Still, I stuck to my shopping list and only bought my go-to mascara from Benefit. For me, it's truly the best waterproof mascara for travel, because it stays put and keeps providing volume. View the location and opening hours here >>

For fashion and accessories, you’ll want to pop into Fashion Gallery. You’ll find various brands all in one place here, from Michael Kors and Marc Jacobs to Furla and American Vintage. The latter is definitely my favorite because of the lovely knits. During my last browse, I fell in love with a cardigan that I ultimately left behind and still regret! Also handy for heading to the sun: they have an extensive selection of sunglasses to complete your vacation look. Check out the location and opening hours here >>

At Joe & The Juice, I've actually had a go-to order since day one. Never change a winning team, right? My favorite is the Spicy Tuna with iced matcha. The sandwiches are only prepared and toasted after you place your order, making the thin rye sourdough bread deliciously crispy. It also stays surprisingly good for a long time if you take the sandwich with you on the plane. Insider tip: have your sandwich cut in half. Perfect for sharing or saving the other half for the flight. Besides sandwiches, you can of course also get fresh juices, smoothies, and coffee here. Check out the location and opening hours here >>

This might not be the shop I walk into every time myself, but my chef friends think otherwise. You will find a fine selection of special cognacs and whiskies here. Personally, I mainly look at the whiskies when I am looking for a gift for my husband. Partly out of self-interest, because I also absolutely love a good glass of whisky as a digestif after a nice dinner. View the location and opening hours here >>

Sometimes you just want to grab a good sandwich before boarding, and Bread is a great stop for that. The bread here is freshly baked, and you can choose from various generously filled sandwiches and baguettes. It's handy if you want to sit down for a bit with something to eat and drink, but also for taking a sandwich with you on the go. Great: they also have gluten-free items. Burberry also has a store here, and as far as I'm concerned, the brand proves season after season how timeless the iconic Burberry check is. Especially now that the whole Cotswolds core trend is so big, with classic British countryside looks, Burberry naturally fits in perfectly. From trench coats to accessories: that recognizable check remains stylish and instantly gives every outfit that British touch. All that's left is to book a weekend in the Cotswolds ;-). Have you seen everything here and still have plenty of time before you need to head to the gate? Good to know: via the Holland Boulevard, you can easily walk to the other section for intercontinental flights. There you will find Bubbles Seafood & Winebar, Kebaya, STACH, and the luxury shops of Hermès, Louis Vuitton, and Gucci, among others. Check out my complete guide to favorite spots for intercontinental flights here >>

Over the past few months, I have shared many more personal tips for Schiphol. This way, your holiday truly begins as soon as you arrive at the airport, and you can make the most of the time before boarding.
I'm curious where your next trip is taking you! Have a great time.
With love,
Anne

| TIPS FOR PARKING AT SCHIPHOL: Are you arriving by car? Then you have two good options. P3 Long-Term Parking is the most affordable choice. Available as a covered garage or open lot, with a free shuttle every 10 minutes that takes you to the terminal within 5 minutes. Want it even easier? Then choose P6 Valet Parking: you park, hand over your keys, and walk directly to the departure hall via a covered route. Convenient: P6 also has charging stations for electric cars. Reservations for P6 are mandatory, but always recommended for P3. Click here for more information & reservations >>
