Van Bieren Amsterdam: The beershop on the Van Wou

17 February 2016

van bieren is heaven on earth for every beer lover

With the office just around the corner of the Van Wou, lunchbreak means getting fresh air by a quick window shopping session. I mean, the Van Wou is full of great shops and restaurants, right? And so I discovered Van Bieren: a new shop full of craft beers. Of course I had to get in ;-)

At Van Bieren they have 200 different craft beers of special breweries. No surprise that they can tell you all about beer. And not just about what the beers are made of, also the story behind it. A good reason to learn more about your favourite beer ;-)

You don’t know a lot about beers? They have invented a handy format for that. The beers at Van Bieren are divided in different categories, with a leading family member on top. Arie, Cor, Joke, Sam, Betty and Rinus are each suitable for a different time. Cor stands for full and strong beers, ideal for at the heater. Sam symbolises the fresh and fruity beers. Are you looking for a beer for a special dish? Then the Betty-category will help you.

You don’t have to be afraid to walk pass by Van Bieren. You’ll recognise the shop by its ceiling windows . And its quiet interior. Who looks inside sees the brown bracket bottles piled. No modern (green) bottles with handy screw cap here, no, here they love to use the authentic beer bottles. And even better: you can also choose large beer bottles to take home. Ideal for when having a dinner with friends. Just as a nice present for yourself, but also great as gift for someone else, Of course you’ll have to taste everything in advance ;-) Speaking of presents, they also sell packages with different tastes. Who are you going to treat?
