Not averse to unusual flavor combinations? Then you absolutely must visit The Boulevard Amsterdam, a restaurant where they bring in flavors and ingredients from all corners of the globe and combine them. Fancy a meatball sandwich on brioche or nacho chips to go with it? The Boulevard breaks all the rules – and the results are surprisingly good.
The Boulevard almost feels like stepping into a chain restaurant. That's not the case, or at least not yet. The owner has over twenty years of experience in the hospitality industry and is certainly open to expanding his empire—which has existed since December 2024. The simple decor gives the impression that it's more suited for takeout. Yet, you can sit comfortably and enjoy the generous portions in peace if you so desire.
The fact that this new sandwich shop doesn't have a Japanese interior—they sell sandos, after all—is due to the ingredients sourced from all corners of the globe. While sandos may be Japanese sandwiches, the toppings they use at The Boulevard are from all over the world. And another thing: sandos only contain meat and cabbage, while the sandwiches at this shop are much more generously filled.
The menu features unique combinations, with the brioche dog immediately attracting attention. The bulgogi beef version has proven a hit since its inception, but the shrimp version (Tao's favorite dog) is also a favorite of many. Then there are the sando sandwiches, known here as BLV Brioche Sandwiches. Tip: try the Tempehrament; you won't believe your taste buds.
Besides the now-famous sandwiches, The Boulevard also offers poké bowls and build-your-own bowls, allowing you to customize your meal to your heart's content. And then, of course, there are the nachos: available as a complete meal—including chicken and pico de gallo—or as a side dish. It just goes to show: the owners truly draw inspiration from all corners of the globe for their menu. And those global flavors seem to blend perfectly.
The Boulevard's sandwiches are easy to take with you and perfect for lunch. A big lunch, that is, because even if you share them, you've already had a complete meal.
