Why you should visit The Beef Chief Amsterdam
Years ago, Simon Parrott had a mission. He had to create the very best burger in the Netherlands. It led to a years-long quest full of experiments and testing, until he discovered his secret recipe. Never change a winning team, because for years, The Beef Chief has been praised for its excellent burgers.
The first place in Amsterdam East is unfortunately closed, but in Noord you can now find The Beef Chief at its new location! They've moved back into Oedipus. Because let's be honest: what goes better with beer than a burger?

Unlike the current popular smash burgers, the patties on The Beef Chief's menu are anything but flattened. They're thick, incredibly fresh, and everything you'd hope for when ordering a classic hamburger. The classic that made this restaurant so famous is the Kimchief – a burger with cheddar, kimchi, and spicy mayonnaise. During the day, other sandwiches are available alongside burgers (until 15.00 p.m.). The place is cozy enough to linger; it feels like a hip clubhouse.
The burgers are made from local cattle. The MRIJ beef comes from the Meuse-Rhine-IJssel cattle. These cattle are prized for their juicy meat with a distinctive flavor. You can taste that in the burgers, but the secret recipe also includes bone marrow—and that might just be the key to success. Before you start cooking with these ingredients yourself, try the burgers from Beef Chief first. Because then you'll realize: you can't beat these—this is pure craftsmanship.

Note to self: always leave room in your suitcase for souvenirs. During my ski trip to Méribel, I popped into the local pharmacy just before leaving, and these are the beauty products I took home.

Looking for a stylish winter sports destination in France? Méribel is one of those places where everything is perfect: beautiful ski-in/ski-out hotels, excellent restaurants on and off the slopes, wonderful spas, and, if you're feeling energetic, après-ski.

Taking the train to your ski holiday? I say go for it! Door-to-door via Paris (Eurostar + TGV + bus) to Méribel in just over 10 hours. I found it very relaxing!

While I'm currently hopping from hotel to hotel and neighborhood to neighborhood in Bangkok (all in the name of “research” and new food hotspots for the new LITTLE BLACK BOOK 😉). Back home, Amsterdam is serving peak weekend vibes.
Think: Dim Sum Sunday in Noord, vibrant Chinese New Year celebrations across the city and a Vietnamese Tết feast at @yen.diningbar. Add market gems like the @le.temps.perdu.brocante pop-up in Oud-West and @themakermarket at De Hallen, and your weekend basically plans itself.
And yes, make time for ARTIS: there are now two elephant calves and they're too cute. 🐘🐘 Instant serotonin incoming, I promise!
