29 December 2016

beautiful brasserie in St. James from lunch to dinner in london

Are you a fan of French food? CHECK. Looking for a restaurant closeby The National Gallery and Trafalgar Square? You have come to the right address at The Balcon in London. This French restaurant is situated in the beautiful Sofitel St James Hotel which is perfect for a romantic weekend in London. One the menu you’ll find everything you’d expect from a French restaurant, but with a British twist. They use local ingredients where they can, like scallops from Scotland and meat from British oxen. Start your evening with a glass of champagne from a small wine house and make sure to taste the delicious authentic French bread.

The interior of The Balcon is classic, but also has an international and Bohemian touch. A bronze leopard, rugs with flowers and a gigantic chandelier with glass lampshades from your grandma’s period.

During the week you are in the right place at The Balcon in London for daily varying dishes, where they advise a fitting wine with it. Besides the dishes from the grill (like a Tomahawk steak to share!) there are lots of dishes on the menu which can make it a little hard to make a choice, just as it was for me. As an appetizer I had the scallops with dumplings of spinach and bacon, and as my main course lobster and gratin of mussel with fennel and cauliflower. Very tasty! Make sure you leave some room for dessert, because the crème brulee with passion fruit is SO GOOD. It will almost make you want to order another ;-). The menu varies per season and The Balcon is open from breakfast to dinner!
