The Bab Pocha Amsterdam has been a household name in the capital for some time now. In Amsterdam East and West, The Bab is popular for takeout, and in De Pijp, you can now sit at the tiny tables or at the bar by the window. Takeout will soon be an option as well, because what's better than settling in Sarphatipark on a sunny day with a fresh Korean meal?

Pocha means "a place to eat together" in Korean. So, it's not just about the food itself, but also about being together. Besides the food, soju (an alcoholic Korean rice drink) and Korean beer play an important role in a pocha.

The Bab brings authentic Korean food to our capital, with a starring role for their own recipes, giving the chefs a twist on classics from their homeland. The Bab is, of course, their most iconic dish; this bimibab is a Korean classic consisting of a bowl of warm rice with various toppings. But besides bimibab, the chefs at The Bab Pocha Amsterdam have more in store for you: their spicy stir-fried chicken is a real hit, as is the same dish with bulgogi beef. For a truly authentic Korean experience, order the Korean pancake as a side dish—with or without kimchi. Incidentally, this homemade kimchi is also available in jars to take home—and we recommend doing so. Kimchi is not only healthy but also brightens up even the simplest dishes. Other must-try dishes that will transport you to Korea: the egg roll and the tteokbokki. Finish off with a typical Korean cocktail: the spicy and creamy Makgulli with honey.
